I hope this message finds you well.
For those who haven’t met me, my name is Juan Diasgranados, and I’m with the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ).
I’m excited to share that we’ll be hosting a Student Journalism Summit at CUNY's Newmark School of Journalism in Time Square on Saturday, November 8th, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
During the summit, students will have the opportunity to:
- Attend sessions led by some of the top reporters and anchors in New York
- Get a free professional headshot
- Participate in a career fair with leading media organizations
And the best part — it’s completely free for all students!
We’ll begin officially promoting the event next week, and we expect spots to fill up quickly from our local universities. However, we know many high schools and organizations in the city have journalism programs, and this summit is a great opportunity for students to gain real-world insight into the field. If your journalism program meets regularly, you’re also welcome to treat this as a site visit for the day!
If you or your students are interested in attending, please email me directly so we can make arrangements. The sooner, the better. While NAHJ is organizing the event, we want to emphasize that the summit and career fair are open to all students and recent high school graduates — regardless of background, ethnicity, or major. Our mission is rooted in inclusivity, and we welcome everyone to participate, explore opportunities in media, and connect with industry leaders.
I hope to see you and your students there!Take care!!!Juan D.--
