Here's the recent conversation I had with Jake about our Email and
embedding iframe codes.

Hello Tech,

First off, you guys are doing an excellent job. Thank you for all the
hard work. My name's Adrian. I'm in the Arts & Culture WG and am doing
my best to get us organized. I have two questions. The first really
important question is do you guys know who is handling our account
arts_c...@nycga.net? I think Ben Scorpio was handling it but he's
been M.I.A. It is very important that someone is up to date with our
account. I was also under the impression that this account was
connected with our other account
occupywallstlib...@gmail.com. Can you inform me on the
status of the nycga account?

Second, I am trying to include a google calendar into the arts and
culture blog, I hand code, but it is not accepting embedding of
iframes here. Can you inform me as to whether our platform has an
iframes plugin? I would really like to utilize it's funcitons.

Thanks very much for your time.

Best,
Adrian

Hi Adrian,

Glad you guys are continuing to work on your web presence. You've
always been one of the shining examples of a group who has really
taken advantage of the tech tools we've been offering.

Regarding the email address, Drew got a similar question from Antonio.
Here's what I can tell you. That address (like all @nycga.net
addresses these days) is powered by Google Apps. That means it is
essentially a gmail address. It has all the features you would expect
of gmail including forwarding, labels, etc. Unfortunately, I cannot
tell you who is in control of the account. What I can tell you,
however, is that the last time someone logged into the
arts_c...@nycga.net address was waaaayyy back on 11/16. That said,
it is possible that person set up forwarding on that date and hasn't
needed to log in since all messages have been forwarded. But if you
have attempted to email that address and have not received any
response from anyone you know in your group, then it is probably safe
to say that someone dropped the ball. In that case what we can do is
reset the password and provide you with a temp password so that you
can login and set a new password yourself. Would you like to go ahead
and do that?

Regarding the gCal embed, one of the unfortunate security features of
the Wordpress Multisite system we are using is that it automatically
strips iframe and embed code from users without the highest
permissions level. This is intended as a security feature but is quite
limiting for us. We are looking into solutions to disable this filter.
Until then, though, there are 2 options:

One of us on Tech Ops can insert the code for you. If you provide us
with the embed code you're looking for and tell us exactly where to
put it on your site, we can do that. The down side is, you won't be
able to edit it at all or it will disappear.
We do have a bunch of available short codes and one of them should let
you do iframe embeds. Check out the fill list at
http://wiki.occupy.net/wiki/NYCGA.net_Dev_Guide#Available_Shortcodes
but if you use the [iframe myurl.com 604 500] shortcode in a post or
text widget or something, it should work. Give it a try and let us
know if you're successful.

Hope this all makes sense.

Hi Jake,

Thanks so much. The iframe code worked. I embedded the gCal using this
script: [iframe
"https://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=g3ch3k35b0b06v4mbf8kruq7s0%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=America/New_York"
style="border: 0" width="800" height="600" frameborder="0"
scrolling="no" 604 500]

Yes, I have tried to send messages to the arts and culture nycga mail
account and had no reply or forwarding to the other account. Ben
Skorpio says he never used the nycga address account. Could you please
reset the password for the arts_c...@nycga.net ?

Also, how can I access this account? Straight through Gmail?

Thanks again for helping with gCal.

Best,
Adrian

Ok. Just reset your password. You should now be able to login as
arts_c...@nycga.net by visitingmail.nycga.net.

The temporary password is: 2JB&urVJ and it should ask you to reset it
upon your first login.

Have the big fun!

Jake,

You're the man! Thanks so much for your help. I'll be clear to get the
word out about how helpful you've been and also about having 467
unanswered messages and what we should be doing about this in Arts &
Culture. Have a great weekend.

Best,
Adrian

Glad you guys are now on it. You'll get through those 467 in no time!
InfoHub and PR recently started going through the
gen...@occupywallst.org and pr...@occupywallst.org accounts and they
had over 10,000 unread messages in each account, dating back to
September. You can do it!

Glad I could help.

Solidarity,
Jake
