Erlangers,

John Hughes will be in town on Monday and I was wondering who would be up for a meet-up with a brief presentation.

I know this is short notice, but we need a venue and attendees. Let me know if you can make it and if you have a possible location.

Thanks,

Rick

I'm a maybe in attendance for a meetup.  nothing planned necessarily, but sometimes I get held at work because of the deadlines at the moment.

Great links though looked at some of his papers, interesting work.

I cannot offer a location this time, but would definitely be down for a meetup.

Wait, so he's not the ferris bueller guy?

I'd be interested in hearing something. What kind of space are you
looking for?

As far as locations go: some area that is somewhat quiet that could seat 15ish people (WAG). I'm trying to secure a place here at Bloomberg, but it's rather short notice.

And here is a brief synopsis of the talk that I just got from him:

QuickCheck--Property-based Testing with Erlang.
John Hughes, Quviq AB

QuickCheck is a property-based testing tool developed by Quviq in
Erlang which tests code against specifications by generating random
tests, then simplifying failing tests to minimal, easy-to-understand
counterexamples. It can be used to test Erlang code directly, and
foreign code via an adapter, and has been applied to radio base
stations, email and instant messaging gateways, SIP parsers, etc
etc. I will give a QuickCheck demo, and talk about some of the new
extensions being made to the tool.
