The ideal candidate is a warm, open, and empathic individual with a curiosity to learn about themselves and others. Experience with disordered eating, binge eating disorder, bariatric surgery, body image issues, mindfulness, and/or weight-neutral approaches is a plus but not required. Training and supervision will be provided.
Requirements:
· Doctoral or Master’s degree in a mental health discipline (ie. PhD, PsyD, MSW, MFT, or MHC)
· Eligible to practice psychotherapy in New York State either as a licensed professional OR hold a limit permit
· Carry malpractice insurance OR able to obtain malpractice insurance
Responsibilities:
· Conduct pre-operative psychosocial evaluations for patients seeking bariatric weight loss surgery
· Provide individual psychotherapy to patients struggling with overeating, binge-eating disorder, body image dissatisfaction, and/or psychological issues related to bariatric surgery. Possibility to expand into areas of interest for the therapist.
· Assist with group psychotherapy with possibility of forming and leading a new group in area of interest for the therapist
· Engage in 1 hour of supervision with Dr. Conason per week
· Maintain progress notes, treatment plans, evaluation reports, and other relevant documentation in a timely manner
· Coordinate with other members of patients’ treatment teams including physicians, psychiatrists, and nutritionists.
· Engage in marketing, networking, and speaking opportunities
Compensation & Benefits:
· This is a fee-for-service position with no additional benefits; compensation based on experience
