I am lecturing at Yeshiva tomorrow morning- giving my annual talk about the psychology of bariatric surgery. I've been giving this talk for the last 10 years (gasp) and wondered if you have a new favorite article to recommend (one you've recently read or written!!) that you can recommend. SInce I started giving this talk the sleeve has emerged the most popular surgery, leaving the band and the GBP in the dust (I feel) and I wonder if there is some literature you can recommend. When reviewing my slides I realized that I needed some updated references!!!

Thanks so much.

Yes, I've also read from that book and it is very helpful and concise. The same editors also published an earlier book, "Bariatric Surgery: A Guide for Mental Health Professionals," and it is similarly useful. APA has a published book I have found to be helpful in learning more about obese populations: "Body Image, Eating Disorders, and Obesity," edited by J Kevin Thompson. Although it is older than the other two books, I feel it is a nice handbook to reference.

With regard to surgical procedures, I'd agree (as this trend is apparent in our hospital) that the sleeve gastrectomy is definitely the most popular procedure when compared to the gastric banding and bypass procedures.

I agree with all of the references noted. I find any and all of the review articles written by David Sarwer and colleagues at U of Penn to be excellent resources.

I also agree, especially in terms of looking for any review articles by David Sarwer and I would add any articles by  Leslie Heinberg or Stephanie Sogg.
