The Triborough Bridge & Tunnel Authority (now called MTA Bridges &
Tunnels) was the crown jewel in master highway builder Robert Moses'
empire. The heart was an engineering masterpiece, the Triborough
Bridge. Other bridges were masterpieces in their own right.

Are they going to be sworn peace officers w/arrest and weapons
carrying powers?
All of the current toll collectors at MTA B&T facilities are the
above.

That would be a change from a couple of years ago,
when only a select group (not sure of the exact
criteria) were given "carry" privs.
Are you sure that's the case?

Nothing in the posting suggest weapons training. As these are
temporary positions, I would be surprised that they would receive that
kind of training, which is expensive. I do not think these people
would be armed.
Nothing mentioned about becoming "officers".
As that in itself would require ALL applicants to be 21.
Since laws don't allow 18 year olds to be officers.
While several states do have toll booth operators armed, I do not
believe NY operators are.

I sure remember going through the tollbooths on the Guinea Gangplank,
before EZPass and noticing the highway robbers wearing guns. If I was
extracting that much of a donation from the "unwashed masses", I'd
probably want the same.

Then they changed it.
As far as I know all of the people working in the toll booths at MTA
B&T facilities are B & T Officers, whether in uniform or not.
That has historicall been the case since RM created it.
I know they wanted to change it for years after the creation of the
MTA, but for whatever reason could not.
It was a very expensive proposition for the MTA as they had to pay
toll collectors B & T Officers pay. And they got the same benefits
and perks that all law enforcement officers get.
If you know something different, tell me.
Randy
As per usual, you have NO idea what you are talking about.
I would believe you have NO idea what the MTA B & T facilities are.
And you certainly do not know the history.
