molecular biology laboratory. The skills involve southern blotting, PCR,
RT-PCR, sanger dideoxy sequencing, alkaline and qiagen plasmid
purification, genomic DNA and RNA isolation, cloning gene into plasmid,
transformation and transfection of organisms, plasmid mapping,
site-directed mutagenesis, familiar with PUC plasmid expression system.
September 1991-April 1994: Research Assistant
South China University of Technology
Worked at Dr. Kongrong Gao's biochemical engineering laboratory,
research on bioreactor and plant cell culture for production of
secondary metabolites, designed and set up a lab-scale 25 liter air-lift
bioreactor system for research of shikonin derivatives production,
optimized the facility system and fermentation process.
July 1987-September 1991: Engineer
Bioengineering Institute at South China University of Technology
Participated in the national research project 100 cubic meter Air-Lift
Bioreactor for Fermenting Glutamic Acid during 1987 and 1990, was in
charge of bioreactor design, scale up and execution of lab-scale, pilot
plant scale and production scale fermentation and bioreactor process,
the bioreactor was scaled up from 60 liter to 3 cubic meter and 100
cubic meter, because of great contribution to the project, awarded the
national first prize of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1991.
Designed and set up a yogurt plant for Doctor Food Company at GuangZhou
China in 1991.
September 1983-July 1987: Undergraduate
South China University of Technology
In undergraduate diploma project, practiced at GuangZhou Brewing Company
for two months, designed a fifty thousand tons beer plant for
undergraduate diploma project.
Honors
Awarded the national first prize of the Chinese Academy of Sciences for
100 cubic meter air-lift bioreactor in 1991.
