Job Purpose :
· to provide appropriate satellite technical expertise to successfully
maintain each vehicle on orbit
· to monitor the health of satellite fleet and to detect unusual trends, to
allow for timely development of alternative plans of action or operating
methods, to ensure continued satellite health
Job Descriptions :
1. Daily activities :
· review real time system logs (check for alarm messages, verify maneuvers,
verify configuration changes, monitor
overall spacecraft activities, review past activity, check upcoming
activities for accuracy, watch for trends or sudden changes)
· maintain real time database and alarm limits (update database parameters
periodically, verify database values against the spacecraft data books, assist
in coordinating real time software updates that may effect the database)
· plot and review spacecraft problems (close monitoring of specific
problems and trends such as solar panel power levels, helix current trends,
etc.)
· perform analysis of on-going problems and tasks (open anomaly
investigation and engineering studies when a sudden change or unusual trends are
happened in operating parameters or unit failure/degradation, which indicate a
possible threat to the continued operation of the spacecraft)
· review satellite controller inputs, actions, and concerns
· perform on call procedures (24 hours) and responds immediately to
spacecraft anomalies
· provide customer support functions
2. Analyze spacecraft data to ensure proper performance, such as battery
performance during eclipse and solstice season, thermal balance, attitude
control, telemetry and command configuration, payload status, and propulsion
data.
3. Provide technical advice, related to fault diagnosis for failed spacecraft
subassemblies
4. Provide special operational instruction and procedures
5. Predict future spacecraft performance and recommend future operational
procedures, constraints, and cautions.
6. Perform administrative task to include assembly of special status reports,
problem reports, annual spacecraft health status reports, and insurance reports
7. Review and correct all spacecraft related documentation (ROPs, OIs, procs,
proc flows, task flows, databases, etc.)
8. Support Satellite Technical and Service Development Division activities, in
developing new business activities s, as well as Satellite Marketing Division.
