My memory is that America's Hobby center on 22nd (near 6th as I recall)
was the best hobby shop in NYC. I haven't been in there in a few years,
but they used to be a great place for RC and models.

Yes, they are good, as is "Jan's Hobby Shop" I think that it's on York or
1st Avenue, at 82nd Street. I haven't been there in a couple of years, but
they had a great assortment. In Brooklyn, there's "Hobby King" Avenue "U"
and East 28th Street (?)

If it's a wooden ship you're looking for, West Marine, in ??? Connecticut
has several in a mail order catalogue they distribute...some are even for
ships in a bottle. You could probably find them through 203 or 800
directory information.
