At least one veternarian told me that an electronic dog's anti-flea
collar which I found in a park was not worth the replacement of the
battery as far as its anti-flea worth was concerned.

That reminds me of the "Rodelsonix IX", a machine I bought from a San
Francisco Bay area mail order company. The first one never arrived. I
complained. The company sent another one.

This machine is supposed to emit a high-pitched sound that mice cannot
tolerate. Mice tolerated it and even seemed comfortable with it. They
used to go near it frequently. The device seemed to have no effect on
them.

I eventually found a use (unrelated to mice) for the "Rodelsonix IX". Has
anyone ever found a use for the electronic anti-flea collar?

Speaking of unsuccessful devices to deter rodents and fleas in the New
York City area from approaching, thre is news from the Supreme Court
Officers Association (a union of bailiffs in NY state trial courts).
Three offficers of that union (James Carr, Charles Compton, and Kevin
Crowley) recently turned in their weapons. The Office of Court
Administration's inspector general is investigating them. Compton had a
black eye, scratches, and cuts. No arrests of course. The three had
"philosophical differences" (union president Compton vs. union
vice-presidents Crowley and Carr?).

Don't judge the entire bunch of state court bailiffs by the few bad apples
whom the press discovers. It is unusual for state court bailiffs to do
violence or serious crimes to each other, AFAIK
