Good afternoon New Yorkers,Â
As we approach the final days of the year and the culmination of four year of breaking records, we're looking back at everything we've achieved for working-class New Yorkers. From hitting record low shooting incidents and shooting victims, and continuing to drive crime down quarter after quarter, to creating a historic amount of jobs and new housing, we truly 'Got Stuff Done.'
Seeing all the great things we've accomplished has also pushed us to continue getting as much done as possible by December 31st, and we're using every last minute left to make New York City even safer and more affordable for all. Here’s how we delivered for you: |

- Celebrating how we REALLY 'Got Stuff Done' – These past four years we delivered on the promises we made on day one and went above and beyond to break major records along the way. Now, our streets and subways are even safer with multiple key categories at record lows, we made history time and time again breaking jobs records, we passed historic legislation to say “YES” to more affordable housing for the working-class families of this city band built record amounts of housing on the way, and so much more. Our city has never stood stronger than it does now thanks to our administration's efforts. I could not be prouder of the work of ALL 300,000+ city employees who helped make it happen. Take a look back at how we delivered for you these past four years.
- Reducing barriers to housing for more New Yorkers – Whether in permanent or temporary housing, New Yorkers should never have to choose between securing a safe, stable home and keeping their beloved pets. That’s why we’re expanding access to pet-friendly housing with a multi-agency initiative. It’ll reduce barriers for New Yorkers with pets, which will also help address one of the major drivers of the high population in our city’s animal shelters.
- Supporting minority- and women-owned businesses – In Fiscal Year 2025, we awarded a record $6.9 billion in city contracts to minority- and women-owned businesses (M/WBEs) — the highest amount ever! For too long, these New Yorkers were left behind, but now, by 2026, we will have awarded a historic $25 billion to these important partners during our administration and helped streamline processes to more efficiently contract with M/WBEs.

↳ Three things to know this week:
- You can still get a free smoke alarm installed in your home. Through a partnership between the FDNY and American Red Cross, they’ve already installed 300,000+ smoke detectors since launching 10 years ago and have saved countless lives. Having a working smoke alarm cuts your risk of dying in a home fire by about 60%, so request a free installation if you need a smoke alarm.Â
- Take a train ride into history with the New York Transit Museum and MTA’s popular Holiday Nostalgia Rides! For just your regular $2.90 fare, hop aboard vintage trains from the 1930s. They run every Sunday this month from 10 AM to 5PM, departing from the Second Avenue station on the uptown F line in lower Manhattan and the 96 Street stop on the Q line uptown. Take a look at the magical rider experience.Â
- Celebrating the most wonderful time of the year doesn’t have to break your bank in New York City! NYC Parks has free winter-themed events all season long, including DIY crafts, stories and smores around a campfire, and even a giant menorah ice sculpture carving with latkes, donuts, and music.Â

Before you go, did you know… |
...Roosevelt Island has an underground system of vacuum tubes that collect the island’s trash? The unique automated vacuum collection process utilizes underground tubes carrying trash from every residential building on the island to a New York City Department of Sanitation plant at high speeds. This innovative system is one of only a few across the entire country — the other most notably at Disney World. Curious how it all works? Take a look behind the scenes here!
