🗽 New Yorkers, let’s talk. This week, we continued to “Get Stuff Done” for you and your loved ones, delivering a safer and more affordable city for all. From investing in a more affordable future to continuing to deliver for our neighbors in NYCHA, we got it done.

New Yorkers, hello from City Hall!

Since day one, our administration has been committed to making this a safer and more affordable city. We’ve driven down crime to record lows month after month, slashed everyday costs to put money back into your pockets, built a historic amount of affordable housing, and so much more.

Although our term is coming to a close at the end of the year, the work hasn’t changed and our drive to fulfill our promise of a fairer, safer, and brighter future for every New Yorker continues. This past week, we acted to:

  • Drive down crime to historic lows AGAIN – For the first NINE MONTHS of the year, we’ve gotten shooting incidents and shooting victims down to record lows. We also drove down overall crime for our seventh quarter in a row AND achieved all-time low transit crime in July, August, and September (excluding pandemic years). This is the result of our bold investments to improve public safety and the incredible work of the brave men and women of the NYPD.
  • Invest billions in working-class New Yorkers – A total of $93 BILLION to be exact. Our administration will use these funds during the current budget cycle to invest in affordable housing, public safety, education, cultural institutions, and more. It's part of our Fiscal Year 2026 September Capital Commitment Plan that also ensures no cuts or funding reductions are made to any capital projects, while delivering an even better NYC for all who call our city home.
  • Expedite even more new affordable housing – Since taking office, we’ve already created, preserved, or planned over 426,000 homes. We're now expediting a $1.8 billion investment into Fiscal Year 2026 to accelerate the development of nearly 6,500 additional homes across more than 10 projects to continue making major strides in our mission to make our city more affordable and the best place to raise your family.

↳ Three things to know this week:

  1. There’s a scam text targeting New Yorkers and pretending to be the New York State Tax Department. Remember: the state tax department will *never* text you for personal information. If you receive one of these messages, do not respond and report it here to New York State.
  2. You can freeze your rent to protect yourself from future increases if you’re an older adult (62 years or older) or a New Yorker with a disability. The longer you are in the Rent Freeze program, the greater the benefit — get started by checking your eligibility here and applying today
  3. Three years ago, our administration launched the largest municipally funded broadband program in the nation by getting free high-speed internet to NYCHA residents through Big Apple Connect. Now, we're extending these contracts, guaranteeing uninterrupted access to free internet and cable TV through June 2028! See if you qualify here
