My evening plans are still in flux.

Don't be sad Bruce.  I would come if I could.

OK, cool.  Please be on time?

@ James, I hope you can come, as the game plays better with 3 than 2, although you can play with 2.

@ Anyone else....   four is good, too.

I got Sarah J to come again, so we had a lovely little game of Bruce's
coop deckbuilder. I think it may have a bit more moving parts than it
needs? And we lost. But it was fun enough.

Agreed on all counts.
It is interesting to see what a game that combines Tower defense, co-op, and deck-building looks like.
But the game does get a little needy on the setup side.
So far I am one-and-one vs. that game.
Worth trying a third time at some point.

All right.  Is the planned attendance for  this gaming club now me, Josh, sometimes Sarah, sometimes James?

I have the expansion that lets the game scale up to 6.  I can't imagine how that would be yet... but something tells me it'll just be a longer setup and breakdown, honestly.

My wife is taking a class on Tuesdays, so I won't be able to attend on those days for the foreseeable future... but I'll figure it out :)

Could be.  I disagree that it has tower defemse elements, though.  Tower defense is fundamentally about DoT and hard defense points vs melee enemies movement and melee attacks -- the fundamental mechanic is invariably trying to mow down enemies before they get to a goal, with movement buffs and debuffs definitely part of the game.  Blind corridor dueling is an interesting combat system, but its the opposite of tower defemse--there isnt even an element of ranged combat where your rear defenders can fire at am approaching foe,

I have no idea.  We should really set up a separate list so we can discuss strategy and plans for the spin off/sequel group.

Sometimes Jan, too.  The issue with Julian is that he often has a conflicting plan.

@ Josh -- Good analysis.  I suppose you woul dhave to add, at minimum, ranged attacks, have the enemies move down the lane before engagement, and then add movement buffs and de-buffs to make it a tower defense sort of thing.

Sounds interesting, but the game clearly focused on relatively simple rules and a higher degree of replayability with all the possible item cards -- I suspect they spent their "complexity budget" doing that, instead.

So, would you like to invite Sarah to this group in the meanshile?
and yes, it kind of makes sense to start a new group -- although no outsider would get confused -- if no one has found us in the past umpteen years no on wwill do so now.

Still -- I suppose that it is possible that someone would search for and find a mid-town gaming group ?...

No reason to change groups.. if no outsiders found us in the past umpteen years, no one will do do now.

@ Jason -- My son told me about the expansion, and the idea of playing this with more than 4 players sounds .. just awful.  It;s co-op now.. but you can tune out a bit on ther players tunrs... with 6, it almost sounds like a solo game where you have to wait your turn to play.

Really, 3 players seems best.  2 a bit too non-interactive, and 4 almost a stretch.
