Hey guys!

I am not sure if everyone saw this but, Drex will be in town next week and is running a few workshops! Spaces are limited so here are the details:

Tuesday December 18th

Just in time for the holidays--come get your spin on! Join me Tuesday, December 18th for a night of poi workshops in the heart of Brooklyn. Learn the basics of poi tech, atomics, and inversions, oh my!

Fundamentals of Tech (7:00 PM)

Intimidated by tech? Learn the concepts underlying most if not all tech spinning in this class. Most tech can be broken down to just a few very simple concepts applied in a variety of ways. By mastering these individual concepts we can instantly dissect tech spinning we see in
other artists as well as find combinations that haven't been utilized yet. Whether you are a beginner spinner looking to take the leap into tech or a veteran looking to fill out your repertoire, this class will help to flesh out your understanding of tech concepts.

Atomics, Insides, and Inversions (8:30 PM)

Take your spinning into 3 dimensions! Atomics occur when our poi spin in different planes--we'll go over the basics of how atomics work and apply them to things we already know about weaves. For some extra spice, we'll play with some moves using inside swings and inversions to show how they can be made into atomics as well.

Thanks for the shout-out, Tracy! :)

Just wanted to chime in and let you guys know there's still plenty of space available in both classes, so come on out tonight if you can :)

I get asked a lot about how advanced my classes are and wanted to throw out there that while the atomics class will definitely be some pretty advanced material, Fundamentals of Tech is a class meant specifically to demystify tech and make it easy for the beginner or intermediate. Early on in my own spinning career, I was really intimidated by tech spinners and never thought I'd be able to spin like they did, then I took a similar workshop that took the crazy vocabulary out and just focused on the very basic elements of the movement. It broke down a lot of barriers for me and not only made some of the harder moves easier, it also gave me the tools to begin to create my own moves :) If this sounds appealing to you, give Fundamentals of Tech a whirl.

If you want to push yourself just a little bit farther, though, I can't wait to show you some atomics :)

Peace,
Drex
