A Biodynamic Compost Windrow Build

Huge thanks to Astoria Pug and the Queens Botanic Garden for critical support and providing the organic materials needed for this unique event. 

Just after the full strawberry moon, as she enters the earth sign of Capricorn and begins her waning cycle. This is a particularly auspicious time to build a compost heap. We will apply the six Biodynamic preparations - each with their associated plant and cosmic/celestial energies - into the compost heap.  Decomposition begins as the lunar energies are moving down into the earth. In addition to this already magical compost technique, we will be burying large chucks of wood to make this a hügelkulture bed, adding biochar and capping with a layer of mycelium material for a truly special compost procedure. Working our earth magic, while imbuing intentions for healing our urban ecologies, especially along the Newtown Creek, a federally designated superfund site, I invite you to bring your friends and prayers to join us in this loving, community practice of care.
