FUNDRAISING UPDATES
-most of current funding is from individuals and from foundation money
but most of the latter are earmarked.
-received $23K from International Foundation, McKinsey's check should
be sent out on Feb 15th via United Way. Both with no strings and for
Nyaya's greatest priorities.
-Andrew coordinating with organizers of iDance at Yale college to
raise $$ for Nyaya.
-Will be in three weeks so need to get people excited about Nyaya so
more will donate.
-Chris and Andrew coordinating an article with Yale Bulletin on Nyaya
health (include information on the talk/screening)
-Public health lunch Chris and Bibhav to attend

UPDATES FROM SHAAN'S TRIP
-QBC Autoread safely brought to the Achham clinic, working properly
-Shaan also was able to receive a donated laptop, digital camera and a printer.
***>>>Please note that all of these items, totaling about $13,000,
were procured from personal contacts. Since we are young and without a
track record yet, we need to continue using our personal contacts for
funds and equipment. Please contact bibhav if interested in strategies
for personal fundraising. You don't need a rich uncle (good if you
do), just need to feel strongly that like with all start-ups, we will
need to generate support from our personal contacts.
CLINIC STATUS
-Renovations of the clinic largely complete
-March 6 (auspicious day of maha shivaratri) set as the opening date,
tasks before we can open our doors:

-KMVS clinic provided us with their adherence tools for illiterate patients

-Rajan dai, Ana, and Manindra dai are meeting up today in Kathmandu
amidst the strike to go over the final agreements with Regional
authorities. Rajan to return to Achham tomorrow.
CLINIC LEADERSHIP/PERSONNEL
-tenzing starting in end February
-Ana out by May (significant institutional knowledge turnover
required—we will need someone to handle waste and management)
-astha likely to start in september, hoping to be there for a year,
will train at the CRHP (www.jamkhed.org) for a month prior to starting
-AMD/OA design team starting in april
-bibhav june 15 for ten weeks, gaurav will start at the same time,
will stay for 10 weeks as a trial period then consider a 1-2 year
leadership posting
-jason likely to be out there early june
-Ali June 15 for ten weeks focusing on community readiness for an
insurance program for the clinic.

COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS
Female Community Health Volunteers in Nepal be identified to work as
CHWs for Nyaya: ***>>> number one priority at the moment in terms of
management models, protocols, training manuals, monitoring
effectiveness, equipping with technological tools like Wi-Fi phones.

Finalize all preparations and start program by mid-March: almost
parallel to beginning in-clinic services.
COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT STRUCTURES
-need to engage the community before beginning services: create a
community advisory board when Bijay gets to Achham.
-exploring ways to create a management system that makes us
accountable to the people we serve by identifying a patients advisory
board to influence our management and policy.
