Hi all,

First of all - congrats to everyone involved with getting this local
group off the ground. I was at the alt.net conf in Austin last year
and it's great to see the local versions spin-off.

I just wanted to let everyone who doesn't know aware of 2 XP / agile -
oriented groups in NYC. alt.net does not necessarily imply agile, but
there is some amount of overlap between the philosophies.

Group #1 is the eXtreme Tuesday Club (http://xtcnyc.blogspot.com/),
which is a social meetup in a bar, the next event is next Tuesday.
Disclaimer - I facilitate this group.

Group #2 is the XP NYC group (http://www.xpnyc.org/) which meets up in
the google office and actually writes code in an XP fashion.

Despite being a manager at a Java shop these days, I'm a old-time
.NET'er and agilist so hope to come along to an event at some point. I
can't make the one this month, but will keep track of the mailing list
and hope to come soon. If anyone wants me to talk about the old-days
of CruiseControl.NET I could even do that (I've moved off the project
now but can re-tell stories of 'old')

Cheers, and congrats again,

Mike

Mike:

Thanks for the info; there is indeed some overlap in focus betw .NET
and agile/XP so I will check out those other groups. Thanks for the
heads-up.

Also, we DO have a meeting topic planned (tho not scheduled as of yet)
for CI where it would be great to have you participate in some
discussions with your experiences in that arena; we'll keep you in
mind as developers of all focuses are always welcome and we promise
not to hold your java-ness against you :)
