I think this is going overboard if you have a job to offer for your
company then that's fine but please stop posting a whole list of jobs.

I frankly assumed this stuff was unsolicited spam (uh...actually, I guess all spam is unsolicited <g>).

The NYC .NET meetup recently had a simiar job-posting flare-up and I think the way to handle this is the same as was done there: I think we need to adopt a zero-tolerance policy for job-postings on the discussion group list.  This may be a bit draconian, but it eliminates the slippery-slope problem of 'my posting = good and your posting = bad' that is certain to ensue if this is permitted.

If people want to pitch an available job at one of the actual group meetings, then I think that's more than fine.  In fact, I'd be in favor of an actual set-aside moment in the meetings (perhaps right after the food arrives???) that we could invite job-offerers to come to the front of the room and make their pitch BRIEFLY.  This way, anyone wanting to solicit potential hires has to at least meet the minimum threshold of actually attending a meeting to demonstrate the seriousness of their intent.

Otherwise, we will  likely be inundated with recruiter-style job postings here and that's not the real intent of the forum (IMHO).  If others have alternate opinions, let's discuss them; perhaps other would LIKE job postings here -- this is just one man's opinion.

I agree. I think we need to adopt the policy of banning member(s) who spam the list with unsolicited job mail (or anything of spam nature).

I set him as Moderated but I think I should ban him.

I think it will be a great idea to have a few minutes for job offers.
