hmmdepends i have far more respect for tuners in other fields like race bikes (ten times our engine technology), jet, boats and southern 80 boats and especially race aircraft...... put simply if you tune a plane wrong it ends in death.....

If your building yourself i'd be more worried about your parts/assembly than the tune to be honest. And thats not to say you will do a bad job... just that there are many little tweaks to get a RB26 more reliable that only people doing them regularly will know

on topic: if your in SE Queensland, then you have a few big name tuners to consider. I use Gavin Wood @ Autotech, there is Matt Spry @ PITS, Mick O'shea @ Signature Performance and Peter @ ProTorque off the top of my head, all who have tuned big HP cars and work on a variety of ECU's.

I have been around classic Chevys, speedway and hotrods long before I got into late model turbos and can tell you if you ask 50 people who have been to the same big name workshop you will get at least 10 that thought they were ripped off.

Then again, I went to a big name tuner a few years ago to have my Unichip installed and tuned. They didn't start till 3.00pm then finished it in 30min. I drove it home and no change what so ever. I took it to Jim at Croydon and he tells me the wiring isn't right so he fixes that then 2hrs on the dyno later I couldn't believe the difference, just amazing.

In short, ive got a catback exhaust, k&N insert, HPS intake hose and have had it locally tuned. Was happy with everything. Each mod seems to play their part and have dyno numbers inbetween a few of the mods to see the differences.

Just recently fitted ceramic coated PPE headers and as its a substantial mod, im looking to tune it again for the most power i can have and to ensure all the ratios, fuel etc are spot on given there would be more air, timing etc to play with.

Their site indicates the intake alone does not do much but with headers and mods i know have, its good for about 15hp and also i get their tune. I dont know if their tune is a generic one to the mods i have or specific based on the file i send them from the OBD tool so they configure something to match my engines parameters etc. I havent asked RR yet. Im sure their intake design and the MAF being a bit bigger will mean its a bit louder (which is always nice) but is it worth the extra 1k.

I know i wont supercharge, turbo charge or carry out any further engine mods as i dont think there is much options out there for me now so i know this should be my final tune. In hindsight i would not have tuned it the first time but hindsight is great. I never thought i was going to get headers but did.

Also the fact the car does have a tune (prior to headers) im assuming the tune wont be as comprehensive regardless who i go to given it is somewhat tuned vs not at all. Welcome to any opinions, thanks.

Imagine getting tunes touched up, ping pong tuning sending files and logs back and forth as well to the dyno. Yeah pass, My tuner has done some real time tuning here for overseas customers which I found pretty interesting, would be the only way to do it.

Make sure you tell him what year model it is. I had big trouble with my tune, loosing all throttle in traffic very dangerous, he eventually believed me, it was a tune related issue, all good after tilt tow back to him from Moruya $$$. If in hind sight I would have gone RR Racing.

Im looking at either local like Autowerks given they did my first tune, RR (off the shelf tune but with tuned intake) or not bother and get a new flat bottom CF wheel lol. First world problems i know but damn those wheels look good :-)

Today was the day for the retune with Sonny at Autowerks , Below is the results from 1st tune in march last year and the 2nd is todays runs . Car is smooth and revs quickly through to redline . A good result I think .

Thx for sharing your results. Gives me more insight as to what way ill go with my tune when im ready. Approx 290kw seems to be his mark for ISF's with E/H/I, the usual mods. Curve does look good, smooth with alot top end which i expected with the PPE's.

I actually would of thought though that the headers would have taken up the majority of the gains with the touch up tune the rest but it seems the other way around. i.e. 9kw headers and 13.6kw from the tune.

I know its only my butt dyno at this stage but i feel like the headers has really opened up the ISF, more power everywhere. I had his cat mod flange done as well so now thats gone with the headers its possible my header gains will be even less :-( but im sure if tuned from his as well, id be expecting the 290 mark as well.

Thanks Grease Monkey for the reply. Yeah, I'm based in Geraldton WA. You would think a Harley dealer would be able to put the right tune in but appears not - this is the second time I've had problems with a wrong tune and it means a 900 km round trip to sort it out. I'm thinking about getting a Dyno Tune. Anyone recommend someone in Perth other than Perth Harley?

Thundertechs new tuner / owner is Brand.

My M8 softail came with a Maximus tuner. Can they be used like a power vision tuner for a complete custom tune on the dyno? Or do they not have the features that the PV has? Thanks

If you must play in equal temperament, you can use an electronic tuner or an app to help you divide the notes of the scale. All the various Korg models we have stocked over the years are shown on the Previous Korg Tuners page.

World Exclusive Temperament Card

We used to include this with the popular MT-1200 tuner, and although that model has now been discontinued, many enquiries have led us to offer the card separately, especially for those overseas who may not have bought their original tuner from us.

Man this is becoming a SERIOUS addiction lol Just picked this up today, coming by taxi as we speak... From what I've read this is pretty TOTL stuff so I'm excited to own it. If anyone has any experience with this gear I'd love to know ure thoughts. Fella I bought it off said he got it from a deceased estate - so usual minty super well cared for stuff! Here's a couple of pics now it's here... It sounds absolutely amazing.. The detail in everything I listen to is exquisite!!! (Even made those Technics speakers sound audiophile.. :P)

Nice work - the AU-D9 is a lovely amp. It's no the TOTL from that model range (that honour falls to the AU-D11) but it's a quality bit of gear with lovely sound quality. Of course, I'm a Sansui nutter, so I would say that!

nice one tim

i had the sansui AU919+TU-S9 bought both brand new, loved them back then, the tuner was unique with the slide out station identification strip which you could customise all the preset stations with the supplied stencil type sheet with alphabet and numbers which you added to the backlit display,

have fun

ray.

i am pretty sure it will be there,on the right hand side of the tuner directly opposite the station display there should be a small tag which you use you fingernail or a small screwdriver and slide the strip out,you may be able to get the stencil no+alphabet sheets from a good newsagent or maybe online as long as they are of suitable size, failing that use a fine tip marker,

goodluck
