The webcam tester and webcam checker are great tools for testing camera and gathering technical details about the imaging device. However, it seems there are scenarios when people just want to run a camera preview without waiting for detecting any technical details. To rid them of unnecessary features and time wasting, I developed a simple online cam viewer which streams video from the camera in real time.
Note that the webcam viewer does only one thing: starts the camera and shows what it is capturing. It does not even detect the maximum resolution and does not support any actions (such as fullscreen or snapshots). If you need additional features or technical details, please try another tool.
This free webcam viewer does not require installation of additional software and it supports various operating systems (such as Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows, and other) regardless of the camera type (integrated, USB, or wireless).
There is no webcam option in the standard SL viewer or in any of the Third Party viewers that I am aware of, because there is no in-world function that would use a web cam. I suspect that your web cam is being triggered by something else in your computer, or that you are trying to use a Third Party viewer that has a very suspicious function built into it. Do not use a viewer unless you have downloaded it from Linden Lab's own site or from the site of a recognized Third Party that is volutntarily complying with LL's Policy on Third Party Viewers. .
FIrestorm has this issue as a Third Party viewer that enables the web cam. The webcam view is inside the FS viewer display. [bottom right corner] So there is a legitimate viewer that has this issue. Thank you. This may be another third party webcam application that uses a search parameter and has found one within the FS viewer. Noobulous organism have equal feelings to hierarchical gods.

I see a Webcam Viewer.settings file that is created after first startup. If i open it up with notepad i can see some settings. Are there more setting and what are all the setting options.
Hi! absoulutely great app as a alternative to the Windows Camera app, however can you please add support to capture sound as well? I actually use this app to view video through my capture card and play games on it. It has the least lag of any capture app but because there is no sound i can not play games. Thanks!

This would make it to be the only software (that I know of) which can be used to see yourself the way video conferencing apps would do (like Skype and Zoom). Helpful when you want to record yourself using OBS in the same way as it would appear would you use OBS in the conference.

Not on my system. The EXE is on my path and so I can execute from anywhere. I executed it from another location from the command line. The captures are neither on that directory or the directory with the EXE or root.
O melhor visualizador da webcam que j encontrei. exatamente o que queria encontrar, pois eu precisava capturar a tela inteira com webcam mvel (muda para qualquer lugar na tela), d para esconder o menu do visualizador da webcam. Parabns pelo excelente aplicativo.
Works great for me on Windows 10
but on WIN 7 it does not save the image al all
I press double click it gives the name of the image and nothing is saved on the picture

Thanks for this app. Replacing the default windows camera app that has issues and is so hard to re-install.
It recognises my usb webcams (logitech pro9000) and the inbuilt Toshiba laptop one. Captured pictures go to my default /user/andy/pictures folder with the name webcam_viewer-nnnnn-nnnn.jpg where nnn seems to be a sequential numbering. Plus it opens up a new instance of FileExplorer each time.

Thank you for doing them all in sync, really helps those, like myself, to get a grasp as to what they think is best for them (others just want to discuss it and not show the quality itself). The tests were a nice addition and, though I wont use them for mics, thank you for putting that in too.
Unfortunately, under Window Vista and Window 7, this feature has been removed, and if you want to have a view on your webcam, you will need a webcam software. Therefore I decide to develop a very simple webcam software called WebcamViewer that enable you to have a view on your webcam. You can download the software from the link at the bottom of this post.
Hi there, the captured image will be stored at the same folder as the exe file. For example, if the WebcamViewer.exe is being located at your desktop, then a folder will be created at your desktop and the captured image will be stored inside the newly created folder. And for your information the name of the newly created folder will be base on the webcam name which you see at the webcam selector list.
My colleagues at work used one called booru webcam but it has not been updated for vista or win 7. It is pretty cool because it has a transparency feature on it and I believe you can set it to always be on top. May give you some ideas of functionality to add to your software. Thanks for developing it. Appreciate it.
Currently, it is not able to configure the camera driver using WebcamViewer. The only thing you can configure is the frame per second, but for the brightness, color and extra setting is still not added to WebcamViewer. And thanks a lot for the suggestion in all the features, more settings for the webcam will be available on the newer version.
Yes, you can actually run multiple copy of WebcamViewer for multiple cameras. After you have one WebcamViewer running, double click on the exe file again to run the 2nd WebcamViewer, then you can use these 2 different WebcamViewer to connect to different webcam.
i found this very useful,but i am unable to view the pictures taken.everytime i have to get webcam viewer exe from winzip folder and when i dbl click photos it takes picture but i am unable to locate the file to find the pictures.help.
I have a Philips Toucam Pro. This wonderful cam has a spec far higher than many later, much more expensive, cams. Then I moved to Win 7 I discovered that Philips were not supporting 64 bit drivers for this excellent camera. They advised me to buy a new cam. No way ! The link below shows how to modify the X64 driver setup files for another Philips product to make it work with a Toucam Pro under Win 7.
To all of those who are lost on how to get it so you can see the captured pictures , you must first extract the exe to a folder of your choosing and not just running the exe from within the archive. that should help.
That is common problem when the application is located under the folder that required administrator right to create file. You can either place the application at other folder that do not require administrator right or run the application as administrator.

This is very cool application , i used it with windows 7 for long time , but since a week it show error message that webcame viewer stop working , i try debug or other method but didnt helpful . i have netframe work 4.5 version so no problem about it .
excellent work! does work and is very simple to use. i needed something like this to pair with join.me webcasting, but unfortunately, the developers did not include video conferencing, unlike cisco webex.
the fact that only a few participants can join in webex limits my audience, that is why i switched to join.me that could handle way much more participants, albeit the lack of video. but with this, it makes up for it.
