Good afternoon, all! This is just a reminder that the Nyack Youth
Collaborative will be sponsoring the Youth Employment Forum on at 6pm, May 30th
at Nyack Center.
We will have workshops, a panel discussion, and representatives of
employment and volunteer organizations. All activities will be oriented
toward helping young people develop the skills they need to achieve success at
getting a job and staying in the work force.
We could use your help in any of the following ways:
1) Tell young people about the event, arrange for groups of students
to come, etc.
2) Set up a table at the forum, to give young people information
about volunteer opportunities, employment opportunities, training programs,
youth service programs, or any other kind of program that builds employment
skills.
3) Volunteer to serve on the adult panel, which addresses issues of
how to get that first job.
4) Volunteer to help with the workshops:
- help students to fill out sample job applications
- talk about how to "dress for success" and workplace etiquette
- do short mock interviews with young people and give them feedback on how
they did
Please RSVP your interest and input for the Employment Forum and thank you
in advance for your help in making this an informative and exciting event!
Best,
Brooke
