ALBANY, NY (WRGB) — Albany police are investigating a shooting that
left one man dead on Ontario Street.
Around 10 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the area of Ontario
Street and First Street for reports of a shooting. Officers said
they located evidence consistent with gunfire and while they were on
scene, another call was dispatched for a walk-in gunshot victim at
Albany Medical Center Hospital.
The victim identified as Ashad Cooper, 34, was transported to Albany
Medical Center Hospital by another individual and was pronounced
dead.
According to police, the victim was involved in several physical
altercations throughout the day and during the last altercation, he
was shot in the neck by an unknown suspect.
At this time the investigation remains active and ongoing and anyone
with information about the homicide is asked to contact the Albany
Police Detective Division at (518) 462-8039 or submit anonymous tips
may also be submitted online at Capital Region Crime Stoppers.
