Um ... no. Not at all. The older "liberals" were still
sensible, grounded in reality.

Todays, well, they have more nefarious ends in mind.

It IS possible to frame the felon/vote thing in 'racist'
terms ... a gazillion "blacks" convicted JUST to keep
them from voting. However that's pretty next-level,
complicated. I think lots of "blacks" are convicted
just because they won't follow the laws, not because
of any "greater plan".

As to whether "blacks" SHOULD follow White Mans Law
to the letter, or even CAN given typical circumstances,
that's another thread entirely.

As for NYC/NY-State ... DOOMED. It's too late to fix it.
Best intentions yeilded the typical result. The mass exodus
of people, biz, money continues apace. In the end NYC
will more closely resemble something out of "Escape From".
Texas and Florida will be the new centers of the US economy.
