Hey hey hey!

This is an INCREDIBLE opportunity for youth activists between the ages of13-22; please share this as widely as possible! The purpose of the incredibly well known Brower Youth Awards is to profile stellar young leaders who are leading the way on eco-justice work and honor them in a SF public ceremony... there's a $3000 cash prize, to sweeten the deal.

It's a big deal and I think it's especially important that our low-income and/or youth of color are given the proper recognition that they deserve! Additionally, I'm on the selection committee so holler at me and let's get our youth in there! :)))

Best,
julia

Dear Julia-

We're just over a month away from the deadline for this year's Brower Youth Awards, and I'm hoping you might be able to nominate a youth you work with for the prize.

A recap: we give six young environmental leaders (ages 13-22) a $3000 cash award and weeklong trip in October to the San Francisco Bay Area. Awardees do media interviews, speak at local high schools and Bioneers, and are celebrated at a public awards ceremony.  After October, we support our honorees as environmental change agents, writers, organizers, visionaries, and speakers.   Find out more.

Please feel free to pass on nominees to me with a short description of their work and their best contact details.  You can also encourage youth to download the application here.  They will need to submit their applications by May 15th.

You can reach out to me with any questions, and please forward this email to anyone you think would be interested.  Also, part of my job is also to connect students and youth with other great opportunities.  Check out our page with ideas for grants, training, fellowships, prizes, and more!

"America, the richest and most powerful nation in the world, can well lead the way in this revolution of values. There is nothing to prevent us from paying adequate wages to schoolteachers, social workers and other servants of the public to insure that we have the best available personnel in these positions which are charged with the responsibility of guiding our future generations. There is nothing but a lack of social vision to prevent us from paying an adequate wage to every American citizen whether he be a hospital worker, laundry worker, maid or day laborer. There is nothing except shortsightedness to prevent us from guaranteeing an annual minimum—and livable—income for every American family. There is nothing, except a tragic death wish, to prevent us from reordering our priorities, so that the pursuit of peace will take precedence over the pursuit of war. There is nothing to keep us from remolding a recalcitrant status quo with bruised hands until we have fashioned it into a brotherhood."
