Meetup Description
Alex Kamil will be giving an introduction to MapReduce, BigTable, and Hadoop. He'll also go over his applications of this technology to to analytics. This event is at AOL again so you MUST RSVP on the EventBrite site. If you don't RSVP there you won't be able to get in the building! He's included the following links as good background/companion material for his talk: http://www.usenix.org/events/osdi04/tech/dean.html Alex is a performance engineer at FX Alliance, a high-frequency foreign exchange portal in New York. He also works with Columbia CCLS as a volunteer developing a distributed database for tera-scale iEEG recordings. Alex studied computer science at Columbia and nuclear engineering at Ben Gurion University in Israel. He worked for several years as a consultant with HP Software, Credit Suisse and BNY Mellon. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
