Getting NXFilter to autostart

I just upgraded to 4.3. I uninstalled my previous instance and started fresh. This is a Windows 10 OS. How do I set it so that NXFilter autostarts when the computer is restarted?

It should be located in the services.msc program it should be listed as automatic or automatic delayed

Use the windows flag on your keyboard and press the letter r at the same time you will see a a box that says run and there you will type Services. MSC into the Run dialog box it will then bring it up on this page with all the services Windows is running with both system and user installed simply pressed glitter NX as an NX filter to see whether it's Automatic or Automatic delayed or manual or disabled.

It shows it as Automatic but not Running.
I restarted the computer and it did not start NXFilter. I did the above service.msc and get the same results. It shows Automatic but not Running
I previously had NXFilter installed and working. I had trouble doing an update so I deleted to unistalled the old version and did a new install. Would it be possible that this service is the old service? Do I need to somehow delete this one and start a new one?

One piece of missing information. I can get it to start using bin/startup It is just not starting automatically.

So the log messages are from after you started it on CMD? Then what was there before you started it manually? No log file at all?
What happens when you do these on CMD?
net stop NxFilter
net start NxFilter
If there's no error, look into the log file again. If you have some error about Windows service then do these,
cd c:/nxfilter/bin
unstsvc.bat
instsvc.bat
And see if it's working in the log file.

When I did CMD net stop NxFilter, the response was The NxFilter service is not started
I got the same results with unstsvc.bat
I restarted the computer that hosts NxFilter. I waited 4-5 minutes then checked the log file. I could see data up to the time that restarted it. But there were no error messages but I'm sure it was not started. I restarted the computer one more time to be sure. Checked the log file and it was still ended back at the time that I initially restarted the computer.
I ran instsvc.bat And received the following
Adding Firewall rules.
Installing service NxFilter
Error installing service: Access is denied. (5)
System error 5 has occurred
Access is denied.
Press any key to continue...
The log file still does not show anything.

I guess you didn't have admin permission. You need to run your CMD with 'Run as administrator' option. Then do the process again.

So did you see something in your log file this time? If there's nothing try this.
1. Copy everything in c:/nxfilter/db somewhere.
2. Uninstall it from your Windows control panel.
3. Delete c:/nxiflter folder.
4. Do the clean install.
5. See if it's running.
If it's runnig, on CMD with admin permission,
1. net stop NxFilter
2. Copy your DB files into c:/nxfilter/db.
3. net start NxFilter
4 See if it's running.

I uninstalled the program and deleted the folder.
I did the install. When I checked Finish with instsvc.bat & tutorial.bat checked, it started the cmd. But then it could not start service same as before.
Then I did a Java update, and repeated the uninstall & install with the same results. Updated to build 1.8.0_171-b11
I uninstalled again, restarted the computer, turned of the Windows Firewall and did the install again. Same results.
I not seeing any errors in the log when it tries to start the service. I looked and my user is an admin. So the installs were done as admin. I am using the nxfilter-4.3.0.0.exe download to install this.

So you have nxwrapper.log but not nxfilter.log? It means that our service wrapper started and tried to start NxFilter but nothing happend. I just tested my two Windows 10 systems without any problem. Do you have another system to install it to confirm your failure? We need to know if it's specific to your system or not.

I do not have another Windows 10 system here to try it on. Tomorrow I will be in another location, I have a machine there that I can try but I am pretty sure it is Windows 7.

Then try another one from our download page. There's NxCloud. Try to install it and see if it's running. Don't try to start it on CMD. Just check the log file.

Same results with NXCloud. The cmd show the same message as above.
nxwrapper is the only file in the log folder.

Before I tried the 4.1.7 I uninstalled and I checked my services. NxFilter was not on the list. Just wanted to be sure there wasn't an old service causing issues.
Then I reinstalled it but I did not run startup.bat. I checked the services and it showed NxFilter but not running. I tried to start it from there but it started and stopped. Still no error msg in the log file.
I was not sure how to downgrade to 4.1.7. I tried pasting those files in my current folder, but it still shows 4.3 I do not remember what my latest version was.

Try to uninstall everything. Uninstall it from your Windows control panel and delete c:/nxfilter, c:/nxcloud folders. And then do the clean install for v4.1.7. And see if you have anything in your log file. If it works then there's a way of updating it to v4.3.0 still. Otherwise, I think you need another system to install NxFilter.

So it's a problem with the service installer. But we can't confirm what it is. It works fine on our Windows 10 systems. Anyway, you can use the zip package to update. There's NxFilter zip package on our download page. Download it and extract it into somewhere and then stop your NxFilter service and then copy the new files into c:/nxfilter. Then you use the old service wrapper with the newest NxFilter. Maybe we need to ship the old service install, uninstall batch files since we don't know what it is.

I did the normal install of 4.3exe download on a Windows 7 system and it worked fine. I do not have another Win 10 machine to try it on.
