Hi,

I'm looking for a soft that can control time quota on Internet.

We are already testing McAfee WebGateway, but time quota in this product doesnt meet our requirement.
Is it possible to use NxFilter to take advantage of time quota and use also a proxy for other features as volume quota or antivirus?

Thanks.

The problem is that when you use web-proxy your web-proxy doing the DNS query for the clients.
But if you use your web-proxy as in transparent proxy mode I guess you still can use NxFilter as your DNS server.

Your browser first querying against NxFilter and then tries to send HTTP request and it gets redirected to your web-proxy and then  you get the filtering.
This is just my guessing so I am not 100% sure about that.

Currently I am working on bandwidth control.
I implemented it already and doing the testing this week.
It will be available with v1.5.4.
So you don't need to use web-proxy for bandwidth control.

Don't trust virus filtering from web-filter.
They are just sending the data to an integrated anti-virus engine and gets the result from it.
The problem here is that it doesn't send the data if it's too big.
Because it's slowing down whole network.
You'd better use client side anti-virus software.
