Hi, I have nxfilter installed on aws instance and blocking sites were working but does not show the block page. it only does not continue to the page that is blocked.
Appreciate any help.

Did you see it blocked on log-view? Do you use a modifed block-page or the default one? Was it happend on HTTPS?

Thank you for the timely response.
I've actually see the problem why its now showing the block page.

here's what i did.
NXfilter automatically use private ip it gets, I use the public ip I assigned on the block redirection IP settings and now it works.

on https, i believed it doesnt show block page by default.

im actually evaluating this service to replace our current external dns. got some other things to post.

again thank you for looking onto my post.

Hi, i have the same problem with fresh install with 2.8.7 version on dedicated ubuntu server 14, for HTTP access the web site is really block and appear in the blocked logs sites but the block page doesn't appear, i have "Page not found" message, the block pages are not modified, and in my "Block Redirection IP" i specify my private IP Ubuntu server (is not on the web)

Thanks for your help.

On your client PC try this,
  nslookup login.example.com

Or,
  ping login.example.com

What happens?

I have a DNS resolution for login.example.com (184.168.221.17) the ping works on login.exemple.com

So 184.168.221.17 is your block redirection IP? Can you access it via HTTP?

I don't know what happens. But it sould be 184.168.221.17. login-ip and block-ip are the same one. You can try to change it to 184.168.221.17 and see what happens.

Ok but:

My NXServer IP is 192.168.1.249
My router is 192.168.1.254
My test windows laptop is

My PC can ping NXfilter and router, when i use IE11 or Firefox the DNS server used is my NXfilter

nslookup = 192.168.1.254

If i test resolution i have this:

www.google.fr

Name: forcesafesearch.google.com (safesearch enable on nxfilter)

addresses: 216.239.38.120

Aliases: www.google.fr

If i try porn site like youporn.com i have this:

Name: youporn.com

Adresses: 192.168.1.249

And my IE / Firefox show "page not found" but on my IE or Firefox if I use http://192.168.1.249 the block page appear !!! I think it's redirection problem or DNS ? I use on NXfilter google DNS.

Thx

And when you try to go 'youporn.com' on your browser you get 'page not found'? How about 'login.example.com' and 'admin.example.com' on your browser? You get login-page and admin-page with that?

I have the same problem here.
When I first install nxfilter, everythings run fine, all block pages appear, then I decide to add some info on it.
Then after a long time and a few upgrade, I dont realized it does not work anymore, I thought It was internet connection problem.
Now I test to open block site youporn.com with firefox, it display:

Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at www.youporn.com.

Check the address for typing errors such as ww.example.com instead of www.example.com

I'm sure I didnt change any config. I just upgrade it.

Maybe you should try to back it up first before every upgrade. You can use it on a fresh installation

So what happens when you nslookup against these domains?

  nslookup youporn.com
  nslookup admin.example.com

Maybe your case is bit different as you have been using it from v1.x. In those days we were using admin.nxfilter.org.
Or you can install a new v2.8.7 and copy your config DB into it.
