IMPORTANT -  We are NOT meeting at the Bellingham School Shop this month.  Come to the "new" Ferndale Library over by Pioneer Park for the 7pm Tuesday meeting.  We need to elect officers for the next term.  This is our last meeting before the Summer break, next meeting will be in September.

ART, KC7SDA and I installed Xastir clients a few weeks ago and I have had mine up and running on 144.390 24/7 since then.  Art has offered to set up a Xastir station if we can come up with the hardware and location.  Hit the links for more info.  The brief on Xastir is that it is an APRS Gateway that links APRS traffic to and from the Internet.  Since I set mine up, I re-installed my Garmin "puck" and have been beaconing my location for the past few weeks (KN0N-9).

I actually have an update on the hardware situation.

I've been volunteering at Relectronics (great place for cheap computers and if you like taking things apart go in and ask to volunteer!) and I talked to the owner and he's going to donate a machine to us! Now I just need to find a machine that will work! lolz

Now, once the machine is up and running, the only question thats left is who is going to host it? I know that the club had a couple of TNC's that will do the trick so that isn't a problem, we just need some space, a rig and antenna for it (even a cheap ground plane will work). The rig doesn't need to be anything special (a 5w ht will work just fine), just needs to do fm.

Anyways, see you all at the next meeting!

FB Art-  Jim Elston contacted me about putting the station up at Galbriath Mtn.  He already has a radio available.  That is why I was asking about the Internet link.  If we could piggy back it on the DSTAR radio link on 2 Ghz.  We don't need full Internet  for the I-Gate- just a couple ports for remote access and the APRS stuff.  I can program the router to forward on an unused 10.0.0.x address nbut I don't know how to route that over to the IP space that the second NIC is on.

Ah ok, I shall start looking into how everything fits together later this month and see if we can get something working next month!
