Hi All,

I hope you've had as fabulous a year in the garden as I've had - saved by a warm and dry, lingering late summer.  The group has been dormant since early Spring, so I'd like to ask you all what you'd like to see from us? We could start some discussions on varieties or techniques we had the most success with this year; plan some get-togethers for local members - perhaps to share seeds?; or other ideas?

I would like to know more about cover crop growing over winter.

Is there video available from last year's Veg Fest, where Helen
Atthrow(spelling?) spoke about veganic gardening? We could probably
all learn from her.

How about explaining what the standards are for veganic gardening? In
England it is recognized, unfortunately not here...YET!

I like it when we get together and share/learn from one another.Garden
visits are nice-in spring.
Thanks Jill,
Cindy<3

Yes! It would be great to get together again. I, too, had a great garden
this year. But I would like to hear from others about their
experiences--favorite varieties, fertilizing methods, cover cropping, etc.

I'm afraid that Helen Atthowe's presentation (during the 2011 Veg Fest) had
audio problems. But we heard from her recently. She's doing well and is
working for OSU collecting and analyzing data (organic/veganic) for
understanding "the components, opportunities, and limitations of a more
ecologically focused agriculture and food production system." She was also
recently approached by a Washington Post journalist for her expertise and
opinion re. feeding the world using veganic agriculture (Yay!)

I agree, Cindy. We need established standards for defining what "veganic"
means. Also, it needs a lot more discussion and exposure. Many people have
never heard of it--even vegans! That's why it's important to keep our group
(although small) proactive and growing. Yes?!
