JOB TITLE:

EDUCATION RESEARCH ASSISTANT

CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT

JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for an individual to contribute to the curriculum writing component of the "I,Bio" human biology middle school project.  You will join a multidisciplinary research team of educational researchers, teachers from Chicago's public schools, and engineers, as we engage in this extraordinary adventure in educational reform  [Northwestern's Centers for Learning Technologies in Urban Schools (www.letus.org) and Bioengineering Educational Technologies (www.vanth.org)].  The described position will focus on developing the written curriculum + accompanying visual media.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The qualified student is an undergraduate (any year) with a strong interest in communication and education. This individual should be enthusiastic to draw from her or his skills in writing, communication, media, or graphic design (any of these) to design, create, and refine a curriculum for use in a novel educational setting.  Relevant skill set includes writing, basic wordprocessing (pagemaker a plus!), experience with various visual media, and, in general, just plain enjoying "making stuff."  The qualified individual is excited to explore this unique application for their communication skills as they apply to science education.  This position could be work-study or non-work-study.

PAY RATE:
starts at $8/hr; higher starting rates negotiable with relevant experience
