Norwescon 33, in
conjunction with the Doubletree Hotel, is pleased to
announce that Maxi’s Lounge will be open Friday and
Saturday nights for the exclusive use of Norwescon
33 attendees. This is very thrilling, as it is a
first for us as a convention. Maxi’s Lounge will
provide a new and exciting space for all attendees
over 21 (with ID and NWC badge) to drink, eat, dance
and hang out. We have fantastic sponsors for each
night. Weird Tales will be our host on Friday
night from 10PM-2AM and Star Trek: Phoenix is
hosting Saturday from 9PM-2AM. As with any
bar, you must be recognizable as the person on your
ID- no masks or feature-obscuring makeup. Both
sponsors have evenings full of exciting activities
and entertainment lined up for you, so take the
first elevator you can get on all the way to the top
and join us at Maxi’s Lounge for an evening you will
never forget!

Weird Tales
is the place where two
storytelling concepts meet: speculative and
alternative. In 1923, when the magazine was
originally founded, those two ideas amounted to the
same thing. Weird Tales
was launched to
showcase writers trying to publish stories so
bizarre and far out, no one else would publish them
— stories of unearthly dimensions and dark
possibilities, gothic seductresses and cosmic
monstrosities. Today,
Weird Tales carries
that mission forward into the 21st century, finding
the most talented new writers, artists, and creators
whose visions are too incredible to fit within the
comfortable little boxes of everyday experience.
Boldly stepping into the final frontier of Internet fan films, Temporal Studios and creator Leo Roberts are warping a new series to fans in April 2010. Star Trek: Phoenix will take fans back to the roots of Star Trek, created by Gene Roddenberry. The series is set 40 some-odd years following the events in the motion picture Star Trek: Nemesis. The pilot episode, Cloak & Dagger, will be presented at Norwescon 33 on Saturday, April 3, at 11 a.m. during a Special Fan Screening. The series and the current pilot are filmed in and around the Seattle area.

Star Trek is copyrighted and owned by CBS; Star Trek: Phoenix is not-for-profit fan film and is the largest, consistent film production in the Pacific Northwest -- with more than 150 volunteers helping to create the newest Trek craze.
