As a result of this survey, the National Weather Service found a few areas of concentrated damage. This second area was determined to be caused by an EF-1 tornado with maximum wind speeds in the range of 95 to 105 mph. The damage occurred right around 2 pm local time across almost a 3/4 mile stretch of Swiss Road midway between Castorland and Croghan. The track of the tornado almost paralleled the road in this stretch, but did cross at some point as it traveled in a SSE direction. Convergent damage was noted along several points, as well as a generally chaotic nature to tree damage near Widmeyer Creek. With only a couple of structures in this area, most of the damage was to trees, but the tree damage was severe in some spots along the damage path. Additionally, several power poles and lines were taken down, either by the tornado itself or from falling tree and limbs. The National Weather Service extends its thanks to local media and Lewis County Emergency Services for their assistance with today's survey. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$ Kearns
