...NWS Damage Survey for 08/01/2026 Tornado Event - Update #1...

.Update... NWS Nashville surveyed storm damage in Bledsoe,
Cumberland, and Fentress Counties today. Storm damage was
associated with video footage sent to the NWS showing brief
tornadoes moving through these areas.

.Overview... Thunderstorms moved across the Cumberland Plateau 
during the afternoon and early evening of August 1st, 2026. A 
couple of these storms produced weak, brief tornadoes. Details of 
these tornado paths are found below.

.Bledsoe/Cumberland EF0 Tornado...

Survey Summary:
At approximately 6:21 PM, a tornado touched down near Grapevine
Road in Bledsoe County and moved northeast into Cumberland
County. The tornado uprooted trees, removed shingles, and damaged
multiple outdoor buildings and a barn. It continued to track to
the northeast crossing a wooded area before lifting near Jerry
Edmonds Road.

At approximately 6:22 PM, a brief tornado touched down near 
Heiness Road in Fentress County. The tornado snapped treetops and 
uprooted a few trees. It continued to track to the northeast 
before lifting near Baseline Road.

following categories:

EF1.....86 to 110 mph
EF2.....111 to 135 mph
