Rating: TSTM/Wind Estimated Peak Wind: 85 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.21 miles Path Width /maximum/: 325 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 06/30/2026 Start Time: 01:50 PM EDT Start Location: 3 W Castorland / Lewis County / NY Start Lat/Lon: 43.895 / -75.5798 End Date: 06/30/2026 End Time: 01:51 PM EDT End Location: 3 W Castorland / Lewis County / NY End Lat/Lon: 43.8947 / -75.5756 Survey Summary: The National Weather Service in Buffalo completed a damage survey across Lewis County today in response to numerous damage reports across the county from a line of severe thunderstorms yesterday, June 30th. As a result of this survey, the National Weather Service found a few areas of concentrated damage. The first area, noted above as Microburst #1, was determined to be caused by straight line winds in the range of 80 to 90 mph. The damage occurred shortly before 2 pm local time across roughly a half mile stretch of NY 26 just south of Denmark. The most notable damage occurred in the backyard of one of these properties where several hardwood and softwood trees were uprooted, and some vinyl siding was ripped off an adjacent house. The National Weather Service extends its thanks to local media and Lewis County Emergency Services for their assistance with today's survey. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$ Kearns
