Survey Summary:
A supercell thunderstorm developed through 5:30 PM Wednesday
evening into southwestern Henry County. At 6:03 PM, this storm
resulted in a tornado beginning south of Clinton, MO near the
Lake. As it continued northeast, into the southeast side of the
city, the tornado strengthened to EF 1 with a peak wind speed of
98 MPH as it crossed E. Calvird Rd. The tornado weakened to
EF 0 before ending near E. Clinton St. and S. 8th St. This was 
the first of two tornadoes associated with this storm.

Survey Summary:
This is the second tornado that resulted from a supercell
thunderstorm that developed in Henry county and impacted Clinton,
MO. The NWS Survey team found a gap in damage and security video
from Henry County Emergency Management confirmed a second tornado
developed from the same parent mesocyclone. This second tornado
began near E. Lincoln St around 6:09 PM and continued northeast
to N. 6th St, following along the Katy Trail and into the
northeast side of the city, crossing Hwy 7 just west of the
intersection of hwy 52.

Survey Summary:
Storm chaser observed brief tornado near the intersection of
230th Road and Sheridan Road in Atchison County, KS. Time was
approximately 3:08 pm CDT on April 17 as estimated by radar data.
Rating as EF-U since no visible damage was observed in this area,
according to emergency management.

Survey Summary:
An intense line of thunderstorms moving across Miami County
Kansas into Cass County Missouri through 5 PM resulted in an
embedded circualation which resulted in an EF 1 Tornado. This
tornado began on the south side of Belton, MO around 5:19 PM CDT
and continued northeast resulting in structure and tree damage
through a neighborhood and across the Belont Cemetery before
moving more east-northeast. Past the cemetery, the tornado
weakend briefly to an EF 0, before increasing in intensity back
to an EF 1 as it entered another neighborhood south of Highway
58 and S. Mullen Rd. Sporadic EF 0 damage was found east of S.
Mullen Rd. The tornado ended around 5:24 PM CDT just before
Interstate 49/U.S. 71. Thank you to Belton Emergency Management
and Fire Department for assisting in the Survey.

Public reports of additional damage on the east side of Belton
and north Hwy 58 in Raymore prompted an additional survey. The
damage survey found sporadic EF 0 damage. This damage was in
line with the parent mesovortex and appears to be a continuation
of the original Belton Tornado path.

Survey Summary:
UPDATED: An intense line of thunderstorms moving across Miami
County Kansas into Cass County Missouri through 5 PM on Friday
April 17, 2026 produced an embedded circulation which resulted
in an EF 1 Tornado. This tornado began on the south side of
Belton, MO around 5:19 PM CDT and continued northeast resulting
in structure and tree damage through a neighborhood and across
the Belton Cemetery before moving more east-northeast. Past the
cemetery, the tornado weakened briefly to an EF 0, before
increasing in intensity back to an EF 1 as it entered another
neighborhood south of Highway 58 and S. Mullen Rd. Sporadic EF
0 damage was found east of S. Mullen Rd. Toward I-49/US 71, the
tornado weakened and sporadic EF 0 damage was found crossing Hwy
58 and through neighborhoods southwest and just east of Johnston
Lake. The tornado ended around 5:29 PM CDT. Thank you to Belton
Emergency Management and Fire Department for assisting in the
Survey.
