...Preliminary NWS Damage Survey for 4/2/2026 Tornado Event...

.Overview...
An NWS Storm Damage Survey Team completed a survey of Clinton 
and Jackson Counties in eastern Iowa, where damage within 
those counties was confirmed to be from a single tornado. This 
was part of a long-lived thunderstorm that likely produced 
additional tornadoes prior to this one farther to the 
southwest. Additional work is being done to confirm these
tornadoes and their attributes over the coming days.

.Update...Two additional EF1 tornadoes in northwest Illinois were
determined to have occurred during the April 2nd event, making five 
total tornadoes in the NWS Quad Cities County Warning Area with 
this event.

Survey Summary:
A tornado passed through northern portions of Sterling, with 
estimated maximum wind speeds around 90 mph. Along the path, 
damage was done to trees (including snapped) and two garages in 
the path saw complete loss of their roofs. Minor damage was noted 
to two church roofs. There was also a 3000 lb rooftop HVAC unit 
rolled over, consistent with maximum winds of at least 90 mph.

...NWS Damage Survey for 4/14/26 Tornado and Damaging Wind Event...

.Overview...
NWS Damage Survey Teams in coordination with Emergency Management
and using trained storm spotter videos have confirmed three EF1
tornadoes, an EF-Unknown tornado, and areas of damaging winds
occurred. Here is the summary of our findings in chronological
order in which they occurred on Tuesday afternoon and evening.

.Masonville IA Area Tornado...

Survey Summary:
EF1 tornado with peak winds of 100-105 mph began east-southeast
of Winthrop and tracked into Delaware County to just 
east-southeast of Masonville. A barn was completely destroyed at 
the beginning of its 4.3 mile long path. Additional damage to 
outbuildings and numerous trees was observed. The tornado also 
crossed U.S. Highway 20 just south of Masonville. The tornado
did roll over a semi trailer.

What was likely rear flank downdraft (RFD) winds and a strong dust
whirl or gustnado on this wind surge based on video, which 
included cloud features as well as the nature of the damage. The 
damage was to a grain bin and an outbuilding, branches down in 
town, a tree downed, and to the press box at the soccer field at 
the high school.

uprooting trees along its path. A newly constructed home had 
roof damage on three sides.

Survey Summary:
A tornado formed briefly in the occlusion of a rear flank
downdraft (RFD) northwest of Pearl City. It heavily damaged and 
destroyed several farm outbuildings, lifted a large farm wagon 
into an outbuilding, damaging the roof and side. The tornado also 
snapped several tree trunks and tree damage. Power poles were also 
snapped as the tornado crossed Illinois Highway 73 before lifting 
shortly thereafter. The tornado caused EF-1 damage with maximum 
estimated winds of 105 mph.

Widespread wind damage in and east of Pearl City was consistent
with wind gusts of 80 to 95 mph. Damage was to trees, numerous 
snapped half way up and some uprooted, as well as some structural 
damage including a coffee trailer rolled.
