Summary: This brief EF-1 tornado began along County Road 3156,
where a few trees were downed, and then it traveled southeast to
cross Highway 7 where it intersected with County Road 3153. Most
of the damage here was also to trees with a consolidated area of
snapped softwood trees giving the tornado its estimated maximum
windspeed rating of 95 mph. The tornado then continued to the
southeast and was judged to have ended just after crossing County
Road 3215. One outbuilding was destroyed at this location, but
otherwise the survey team could verify only minor damage done to
a few buildings here and earlier when the tornado crossed Highway
7. Localized snapping of tree trunks was also quite evident
around a pond just to the west of County Road 3215. Fortunately,
there were no human injuries or fatalities associated with this
brief and short-lived tornado. 

Many thanks to TDEM and Emergency Management Officials the Shelby 
County for their assistance locating the damage. 

EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into
the following categories.

EF0...Weak......65 TO 85 mph
EF1...Weak......86 TO 110 mph
EF2...Strong....111 TO 135 mph
EF3...Strong....136 TO 165 mph
EF4...Violent...166 TO 200mph
EF5...Violent...>200mph

Survey Summary:
Shortly before 9PM CST on February 14th, 2026, a line of severe
thunderstorms was moving east towards Grant Parish. Around
8:44 pm CST rotation along the line developed rapidly just east
of the Red River and west of Louisiana State Highway 8, around
Thompson Road. A tornado quickly touched down, initially damaging
a large hardwood tree where multiple branches were downed before
then damaging a barn where a significant portion of the metal
roofing was torn off and blown downstream towards the highway.
Additional debris from the roof and some large branches were then
found just east of Louisiana State Highway 8 before the tornado
lifted and the line of severe thunderstorms continued eastward.
