Survey Summary:
A tornado developed near Bluebird Trail southwest of Slater at
652 am on April 27, producing sporadic tree damage as it moved
northeastward to near Route O west of Slater. The tornado
strengthened as it progressed through Slater, producing
widespread tree damage, with several residential properties and
vehicles damaged from fallen trees or limbs. A set of grain bins
was heavily damaged north of Industrial Boulevard, and several
houses to the north of the grain bins suffered minor roof and
shingle damage. The tornado then progressed northeastward near
Route 240 to the town of Gilliam. Severe tree and power pole
damage was observed near and just to the east of Gilliam. One
property in Gilliam was heavily damaged from a large, uprooted
tree that fell onto vehicles and the home. Dozens of power poles
were downed or snapped along Route 240 east of Gilliam, with the
snapped poles confirming EF-2 damage. Just to the south of Route
240, hog barns and outbuildings near the damaged power poles were
heavily damaged or destroyed. A newly constructed barn just to
the north of Route 240 east of Gilliam was severely damaged, with
walls caved in on multiple sides. Debris from the barn was lofted
over 200 yards to the northeast. Irrigation pivots near the barn
were overturned as well. As the tornado approached the Missouri
River west of Glasgow, a long series of power poles was snapped
or downed. The tornado then moved into the north side of Glasgow,
producing significant tree, power line, and shingle damage. The
tornado weakened as it moved northeast of Glasgow, producing
primarily tree damage for the rest of its path as it moved east-
northeast to south of Armstrong and eventually Route A south-
southeast of Higbee. A couple of properties between Glasgow and
Higbee were damaged from fallen trees. The last visible signs of
damage were east of Route A and north of County Road 136 in far
northeast Howard County, where several trees were snapped at
their tops west of Moniteau Creek. Maximum winds of the tornado
were approximately 115 mph (EF2) with a path length of nearly
36.5 miles and an approximate maximum width of 350 yards.

NWS Kansas City would like to thank Brad Hinz, emergency manager for
Saline County, for his help surveying much of the damage path.

End Lat/Lon: 39.378 / -92.3546

Survey Summary:
An EF-1 tornado touched down around 7:11 am on April 27 just
south of Rascal Flats Road in Chariton County. The tornado
produced multiple significant scars to tree groves along Switzer
Mill Road, with hundreds of tree tops chopped in this corridor.
Damage to power poles and outbuildings was also observed,
including the complete collapse of at least two outbuildings.
The tornado then crossed Route 129, damaging two residences and a
couple of outbuildings as well as several more tree groves south
of Hickory Road. The tornado continued east-southeastward to
just north and east of Roanoke in Randolph County, damaging
numerous trees along County Road 2405 as well as at least five
power poles. The tornado then gradually moved eastward across
County Road 2410, downing or uprooting several trees.
Eventually, the tornado moved generally east-northeast from just
north of Yates to between Moberly and Renick, producing
substantial tree damage. On County Road 2480, a structure was
damaged in which the roof of a single family residence was lofted
and removed from the building. Trees surrounding the structure
also fell in multiple different directions. The tornado lifted
near County Road 2735 southeast of Moberly. Notably, substantial
straight-line wind damage was observed to the north and south of
the tornado track for most of its path, including in far
northwest Howard County, in Roanoke, Yates, and Higbee in
Randolph County, and both in Moberly and between Moberly and
Renick near and east of U.S. Highway 63. The National Weather
Service in Kansas City would like to thank the NWS in Saint
Louis, David Gaines and his staff at Randolph County Emergency
Management, and Blake Rasmussen and Chariton County Emergency
Management for all of their help before and during the multiple
surveys of this tornado track.

suffered roof damage possibly from a fallen tree. The most
severe damage occurred in Renick, with numerous trees down along
Business Route 63 between the railroad tracks and U.S. Highway
63. A grove of trees was severely damaged just to the north of
the highway, with several other trees downed in this stretch.
Minor property damage was also observed at several residences,
mostly from fallen trees. The tornado tracked eastward along
Route NN east of Renick, chopping tree groves in several spots
before gradually weakening as it approached the Monroe County
line. The National Weather Service in Kansas City would like to
