...NWS Damage Survey for 09/24/25 Tornado Event...

.Overview...Scattered to numerous thunderstorms in advance of a strong 
cold front pushed through extreme Northwest Louisiana the afternoon of 
Wednesday, September 24th. A rotating storm along a broken line of severe 
thunderstorms across Bossier Parish produced a very brief, EF1 tornado
near Benton, Louisiana.

Survey Summary:
Around 12:55 PM CDT on September 25, 2025, a brief EF-1 tornado
touched down in south Benton, near the Lost River Estates
development. The tornado initially blew down a fence in the
backyard of a residential home on the south side of the
development. It also snapped a softwood tree across Palmetto
Road. The tornado then crossed the road where it snapped large
tree branches at the entrance of the Bossier Parish Schools
Maintenance Palmetto Warehouse. Aside from ripping a road sign
out of the ground on the west side of Palmetto Road, the tornado
also damaged a residential entrance on the east side of the road.
At the same time, a trash can from the Lost River Estates was
spotted in the open field on the north side of the warehouse
suggesting strong winds. The tornado then lifted abruptly, as no
damage was detected at the warehouse or the adjacent barns and
homes along Duval Street and James Street access road.

EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the
following categories:

EF0.....65 to 85 mph
EF1.....86 to 110 mph
EF2.....111 to 135 mph
EF3.....136 to 165 mph

...NWS Damage Survey for 09/24/25 Tornado Event - Update #1...

.Update...Details added for a survey of straight-line wind damage
that was surveyed in Howard County, AR from the early morning hours
of 9/24/2025.

Additionally, the time of Tornado #1 (Benton, LA) was updated to be 
about 20 minutes earlier. This is based upon home security video 
provided by residents in the path. This video was obtained after the
original survey had been completed. Closer examination of KSHV radar
data revealed a much weaker velocity couplet and a potential weak TDS
that matches the location of the damage and the timestamps of the video.

Survey Summary:
An NWS storm survey crew confirmed a path of sporadic and very
inconsistent straight-line wind damage in Howard County, AR,
between Milford and Nashville. The damage began northeast of
Milford, north and west of Longview Road, where some large limbs
were downed and one large hardwood tree was snapped. More
uprooted trees were noted along Rock Creek to the west. There was
a large break in the path before more damage was noted, beginning
along AR Hwy 355 between Cassady Lane and Mission Drive. Several
sheds and outbuildings suffered partial or complete removal of
their metal roofs, and several trees were uprooted, with the
occasional snap being observed. Several cypress trees were
snapped at a hog farm north of Mission Drive. Directly south of
Mission Drive, a chicken house lost several metal roof panels.
More trees sustained large limb damage or were uprooted along
Garner Loop and Waterloo Road. Additional trees were also along
Feemster Road.As mentioned, the damage was very sporadic and
inconsistent. A convergent damage pattern could not be found. If
anything, damage patterns were unidirectional or divergent to the
southeast, south, or southwest. This suggests damage was likely
caused by straight-line winds associated with the forward-flank
downdraft (FFD) and/or the rear-flank downdraft (RFD) of the
supercell. Damage on Feemster Road was clearly caused by the FFD
and pointed north. Drone video provided by the Howard County
Office of Emergency Management also showed similar observations.
Maximum wind gusts were estimated to be 90-95 mph.Many thanks go
to the Howard County Office of Emergency Management for their
assistance in locating the damage, providing initial photos and
assessments, and for their drone overflight.

between Sam Willen Drive and South Lost River Drive on the 
southwest side of the impacted housing development. The tornado
then advanced northeast through the south side of the development, 
doing some minor roof damage to a few homes and blowing down a fence 
in the backyard of a residential home. It also snapped a softwood 
tree across Palmetto Road. The tornado then crossed the road where 
it snapped large tree branches at the entrance of the Bossier Parish 
Schools Maintenance Palmetto Warehouse. Aside from ripping a road sign
out of the ground on the west side of Palmetto Road, the tornado
