961 NOUS42 KRAH 132134 PNSRAH NCZ042-078-140345- PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT National Weather Service Raleigh NC 534 PM EDT Fri Mar 13 2026 ...STRAIGHT-LINE WIND DAMAGE SURVEY... Location...4 miles SE of Four Oaks, NC County...Johnston Date...March 12, 2026 Estimated Time...1220 PM EDT Estimated Peak Wind...85 mph Path Length...Scattered damage Path Width...N/A Fatalities...0 Injuries...0 Summary: A storm survey determined that scattered wind damage that occurred around 12:20 PM EDT on Thursday, March 12, 2026, approximately 4 miles southeast of Four Oaks, was caused by a localized pocket of intense straight-line wind gusts. Damage consisted primarily of snapped and uprooted pine trees along with roof damage to several homes and detached garage structures. Tree fall was largely uniform in direction, indicating strong unidirectional winds. There was no evidence of convergence within the surveyed damage, which would be more typical of damage associated with a tornado. The damage was scattered in nature and did not occur along a defined path, consistent with straight-line winds rather than a tornadic circulation. Based on the observed tree damage and structural impacts, peak wind gusts were estimated to be near 85 mph. The same outflow boundary and cold front later produced another area of concentrated straight-line wind damage around 12:50 PM EDT near Pikeville in Wayne County, where several homes, particularly along Highland Park Drive, sustained roof damage and broken windows. The National Weather Service would like to thank Johnston County Emergency Services for their assistance with this damage survey. $$ np
