Rating: EF-1 Estimated Peak Wind: 80-90 mph Path Length /statute/: 1.4 miles Path Width /maximum/: 250 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: July 21, 2026 Start Time: 2:00 PM EDT Start Location: 0.9 Miles WNW Stanhope / Morris / NJ Start Lat/Lon: 40.9069 / -74.723 End Date: July 21, 2026 End Time: 2:05 PM EDT End Location: 0.4 Miles NE Netcong / Morris / NJ End Lat/Lon: 40.9032 / -74.6976 Survey Summary: Extensive tree damage was noted near the interchange of Interstate 80 and Highway 206. The path of tree damage continued towards Continental Drive. There was a discontinuous tree damage path through Stanhope. The next area of damage was noted on the southern shore of Lake Musconetcong. At residences along Koclas Drive, tree damage was observed. Some shingles were blown off the roof of one residence and gutter damage was noted at another residence. The distinctive path of damage appeared to end at Koclas Drive. Rating: EF-1 Estimated Peak Wind: 100-110 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.6 miles Path Width /maximum/: 250 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: July 21, 2026 Start Time: 6:15 PM EDT Start Location: 2.8 Miles NE Roxbury Township / Morris / NJ Start Lat/Lon: 40.9042 / -74.6103 End Date: July 21, 2026 End Time: 6:17 PM EDT End Location: 3.3 Miles NE Roxbury Township / Morris / NJ End Lat/Lon: 40.9116 / -74.6041 Survey Summary: On the afternoon of July 21st, an EF-1 tornado occurred in the Lower Berkshire Valley section of Roxbury Township, in Morris County, New Jersey. The tornado began on the west side of Berkshire Valley Road, between the Morristown & Montclair-Boonton NJ Transit line and Interstate 80, uprooting several trees. The tornado continued to the northeast, causing additional damage along Berkshire Valley Road, north of I- 80. In this area, a softwood pine tree was snapped about halfway up along its trunk. Continuing northeast, the tornado crossed through a neighborhood along Little Lane. Numerous trees and wires were damaged in this area, including a large, healthy, hardwood tree being uprooted. The combination of this tree being uprooted and the snapped softwood tree led to the EF-1 rating with 100-110 MPH maximum winds for this tornado. The tornado proceeded northeast, damaging numerous additional trees and wires as it crossed Mill Road, before dissipating. There were no known injuries or fatalities associated with this tornado. Rating: EF-1 Estimated Peak Wind: 80-90 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.2 miles Path Width /maximum/: 70 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: July 21, 2026 Start Time: 2:50 PM EDT Start Location: Pine Brook / Morris / NJ Start Lat/Lon: 40.8725 / -74.3413 End Date: July 21, 2026 End Time: 2:51 PM EDT End Location: Pine Brook / Morris / NJ End Lat/Lon: 40.8747 / -74.3392 Survey Summary: A EF-1 tornado touched down behind the ridgeline on Windsor Drive in the Pine Brook section on Montville around 2:50 PM EDT. The tornado generally tracked northeast where a path of mainly tree damage was found. A large uprooted tree and several large branches were found to be snapped in a couple of backyards along Hook Mountain Road. Photos were passed on by local residents of a broken power pole which was snapped at its base which was also lying across Hook Mountain Road. The tornado continued onward, removing some shingles from a house, before crossing over Hook Mountain Road and dissipating around 2:51 PM EDT before reaching the Passaic River. The National Weather Service would like to thank our Morris County emergency management partners and local residents for their assistance in these surveys. .Cape May Point Tornado... Rating: EF-0 Estimated Peak Wind: 60-70 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.255 miles Path Width /maximum/: 30 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: July 21, 2026 Start Time: 6:15 PM EDT Start Location: Cape May Point / Cape May / NJ Start Lat/Lon: 38.9349 / -74.9684 End Date: July 21, 2026 End Time: 6:16 PM EDT End Location: Cape May Point / Cape May / NJ End Lat/Lon: 38.937 / -74.9645 Survey Summary: A waterspout was witnessed going on shore the beach at Cape May point. A narrow path of tree damage was noted along Lincoln Avenue, Yale Avenue, and near the intersection of Oxford Ave and West Lake Drive. At least one witness saw the funnel cloud proceed into Lake Lily, but no other damage was noted. Severe storms moved into the region during the afternoon of July 29. One of the storms that progressed through Talbot County Maryland produced two distinct tornadoes in Trappe, Maryland. Multiple witnesses reported the tornado that affected the Backtown Road fully dissipated before the storm crossed over Highway 50. The storm then produced another tornado on the east side of Highway 50 near Tarbutton Mill Road. The NWS would like to thank Talbot County Emergency Management and area residents for their assistance in this survey. .Backtown Road Tornado... Rating: EF-1 Estimated Peak Wind: 90-100 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.15 miles Path Width /maximum/: 30 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: July 28, 2026 Start Time: 6:12 PM EDT Start Location: 1 Mile N Trappe / Talbot County / MD Start Lat/Lon: 38.6719 / -76.0602 End Date: July 28, 2026 End Time: 6:13 PM EDT End Location: 1.1 Miles N Trappe / Talbot County / MD End Lat/Lon: 38.6734 / -76.0592 Survey Summary: Tree damage was noted behind an industrial park on Backtown Road. The highest estimated wind speeds were from roof damage to one of the large metal buildings in the industrial park. The metal roof covering was blown off and some of the roof trusses were damaged. Next to the industrial park large branches were broken on trees in the yard of a residence. The last damage noted was a distinct convergent damage path through part of a corn field on the north side of Backtown Road. Beginning and end points of this path are estimated due to lack of access. .Tarbutton Mill Road Tornado... Rating: EF-0 Estimated Peak Wind: 70-80 mph Path Length /statute/: 0.34 miles Path Width /maximum/: 30 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: July 28 2026 Start Time: 6:18 PM EDT Start Location: 1.4 NNE Trappe / Talbot County / MD Start Lat/Lon: 38.6786 / -76.0519 End Date: July 28 2026 End Time: 6:19 PM EDT End Location: 1.6 NE Trappe / Talbot County / MD End Lat/Lon: 38.6792 / -76.0456 Survey Summary: The first damage at this location noted was a large branch broken from a tree.
