Survey Summary:
A National Weather Service damage survey concluded that a brief
EF-0 touched down early on the morning of Thursday June 18th,
2026. The brief spin-up tornado was embedded within a larger swath
of sporadic straight-line wind damage, and touched down about 3
miles due west of Cynthiana between Mill Creek and Mill Creek
Meadows Drive. Here, some tree damage as well as roof damage to a
metal barn were sustained. Winds were estimated to be 80 mph with
this damage. The tornado then traveled east of Mill Creek Meadows
Drive toward Ammerman Pike doing more tree damage and scattering
some roofing material from the upstream barn. At Ammerman Pike and
Highway 356, another metal barn sustained roof damage and had side
panels blown out, along with some roof and fascia damage to a
home. A large softwood tree was also uprooted here. Peak winds at
this location were rated at 85 mph as the tornado made a hard
northward turn and dissipated north of the Highway 356 and
Ammerman Pike intersection. The tornado was on the ground for 1
minute or less and traveled less than three quarters of a mile.
Peak width was estimated at 80 yards wide.

The National Weather Service in Louisville would like to thank
Harrison County Emergency Management and public reports for their
assistance with this survey.

End Lat/Lon: 38.0943 / -86.1801

Survey Summary:

The National Weather Service conducted a storm survey in Harrison
County, Indiana and determined a small EF0 tornado occurred west
of Central, IN. Maximum winds were 85 mph and a max path width
of 100 yards.

While most damage in southern Harrison County was consistent with
straight line wind damage, a small area west of the town of Central
had indications of rotation. A home and farm north of Hisey Road
and along Ripperdan Valley Road SW had extensive barn roof damage,
as well as damage to a garage. While the straight line wind damage
was consistently going toward the southeast direction, the damages to
the barn and garage were going to the west and southwest toward the
center of the tornado passage. Some barn material and barn doors
were lofted over the barn, the home, and dropped in the front yard.
There was also impalement of wood planks in the backyard in the northeast
direction. Several rotational directions were noted on the
property consistent with a small EF0 tornado that formed along
the leading edge of the thunderstorm squall line. The tornado
continued with sporadic damage into a nearby tree line where
there was damage leaning toward the southwest on the north side
of the track, and tree damage leaning toward the northeast on the
south side of the track, evident of being pulled into a
circulation center along Hisey Road. Beyond Hisey Road, several
trees and barns had damage near and southeast of Central along
Watson Road, Old Goshen Road, and Rehobeth Road. All damages
beyond Hisey Road west of Central were in the south to southeast
direction, consistent with straight line wind damage.

The National Weather Service would like to thank Harrison County Emergency
Management for the help with the damage survey, along with the
many helpful homeowners who shared pictures, stories, and access
to their properties.
