...NWS Damage Survey for 04/17/26 Tornado Event...

.Overview...
Several tornadoes occurred along a line of severe thunderstorms 
that raced eastward across central Illinois. Due to the scope
of the area covered, surveys will take a few days to complete. 
The surveys done on Saturday concentrated on McLean County, but
additional work is still needed in the western part of the 
county. 

This update lists only the tornado tracks that were finalized 
on Saturday.


.Downs-Ellsworth Tornado...

Survey Summary:
The tornado touched down about 2.5 miles southeast of Funks Grove
where it produced some tree damage along E 400 North Rd. It
progressed northeast crossing Hwy 51 just south of Randolph,
causing damage to numerous trees along the way. As it headed
toward Downs, it caused EF-1 damage to a home several large
trees, with estimated wind speeds of 100 mph. As the tornado
moved northeast toward Ellsworth, it caused more tree damage and
some home damage, with wind speeds up to 100 mph. The remainder
of the tornado path were through countryside areas, with tree
damage the primary impacts. The tornado dissipated about
1.5 miles from the McLean County line along E 1700 North Rd.

Survey Summary:
This tornado touched down on the far west side of Normal, IL and
damaged several metal buildings. As it moved northeast across
town, it did significant tree damage, especially between Main
Street and North Linden Street. It continued to do tree damage as
it moved northeast. As it left town, it flipped over a semi on I-
55. It then entered Towanda, doing minor damage and ended just
northeast of town.

Survey Summary:
This tornado touched down in the Bloomington Country Club Golf
Course and did tree damage. As it moved northeast it broke two
power poles on Empire St and then traveled across Veterans
Parkway into a housing area. It did significant tree damage as it
moved northeast and then broke two more power poles on GE Road.
It continued northeast, doing more tree damage and then weakened
and ended near the intersection of Fort Jesse Road and Towanda
Barnes Road.

.Bath-San Jose Tornado...

Survey Summary:
This long track tornado spanned nearly the entire width of Mason
County, starting in Bath and ending just across the Logan County
line in San Jose. In Bath, a few walls collapsed. Along the path,
a number of irrigation pivots were overturned, and trees were
snapped. Grain bins were destroyed along Peterville Rd east of
state highway 97, along with near the intersection of 1300N and
2600E. Some of the greatest damage was in San Jose, where several
huge trees were snapped.

Survey Summary:
The tornado's path began approximately one mile north of Forest
City ,along County Road 2800 E, where it first caused substantial
tree damage.  It then tracked northeastward through Union,
crossing E Manito Rd and damaging a small outbuilding. 
Continuing its movement, the tornado entered the south side of
Manito, resulting in snapped and uprooted trees and downed power
lines.After crossing north of Hickory Grove road, the storm
peeled the roof off a small outbuilding, lofting the debris
eastward.  The tornado then crossed into Tazewell County, just
southeast of Parkland, where more tree damage and a tipped
irrigation system were documented.The tornado proceeded to cross
the Mackinaw River and caused extensive tree damage as it moved
toward South Pekin, lifting slightly past the interchange of
Townline Road and Towerline Road.

an industrial building near the railroad tracks sustained some
roof damage.

*.Update...
Results for two more tornadoes have been released for Knox, Stark 
and Woodford Counties, and the Bath/San Jose tornado has been 
updated. This brings the total for the Lincoln NWS county warning
area up to 25. Tracks on a few more tornadoes will be released in
the next day or two. 

Survey results from southern Schuyler County determined that damage
in that area was due to widespread wind gusts of 80 to 100 mph, 
which mostly occurred during the late afternoon.

Survey Summary:
The tornado began approximately three miles east of Victoria,
starting its path in a field just north of Knox Road 2250 N where
it initially damaged large tree limbs.  Tracking northeastward,
it crossed Knox Road 2350 E, causing damage to a few power
poles.Upon crossing into Stark County, the tornado damaged a two-
story residential home, resulting in shingle and siding loss. 
Additionally, a large outbuilding along County Road 100 E
sustained substantial damage, including the loss of some metal
roof panels.  Approximately one half mile further northeast,
along County Road 150 E, another two story residence experienced
shingle damage to its roof.The storm continued to produce
occasional tree damage after crossing north of County Road 600 N,
affecting areas along County Roads 700 N and 750 N.The tornado
then entered Toulon, first causing damage to an outbuilding, a
carport, and electrical poles along Turner Avenue.  Later, along
E Jefferson St, it uprooted multiple large trees and damaged two
separate single resident homes with shingle and vinyl siding
loss.Its track concluded in an empty field just east of Toulon,
near Downend Rd.

Survey Summary:
The tornado touched down about 2 miles southwest of Washburn in a
field just north of County Road 2100. The tornado destroyed a
well built Morton Outbuilding, snapping the 6x6 wood support
beams. The building was tossed to the east into a nearby
building, and then for about a 1/2 mile to the northeast into the
field. The next building also sustained significant roof damage.
The tornado is estimated to have dissipated about one-quarter
mile to the northeast of the farm stead in an empty field.

The Bloomington #1 and Bloomington #2 tornadoes have been combined
into one tornado track. Additional damage was surveyed between
the two tornado tracks and beyond the end of Bloomington #2
tornado. Therefore, the tornado track has also been extended to
the northeast of Bloomington. The new tornado track now ends about
2 miles northeast of Pleasant Hill, creating a path length of
20.87 miles.

Survey Summary:
This tornado developed just south of Fox Creek Road between I-
55 and Veterans Parkway, with a few greenhouses damaged along the
track. It traveled near Veterans Parkway and into Highland Park
Golf Course where it did only tree damage. It continued through
South Oakland and across the Bloomington Country Club Golf
Course, where it produced mainly tree damage. As it moved
northeast it broke two power poles on Empire St and then traveled
across Veterans Parkway into a housing area. It did significant
tree damage as it moved northeast and then broke two more power
poles on GE Road. It continued northeast, doing more tree damage
as it headed out of Bloomington. It snapped off trees about 1.5
miles northeast of Bloomington along E 1750 North Rd, as well as
along E 1900 North Rd where it also did significant damage to an
outbuilding near the intersection with N 2300 East Rd. As it
continued northeast, it did soffit damage to a home, snapped
branches, and damaged an outbuilding along E 2100 North Rd. As it
passed to the southeast of Pleasant Hill, it damaged the roofs 
and doors of two outbuildings along E 2250 North Rd then 
dissipated after it snapped a power pole and a tree about 2 miles 
northeast of Pleasant Hill along N 2900 East Rd.

Survey Summary:
This tornado touched down on Old Peoria Rd 1 miles west of Rivian
Parkway on the far west side of Bloomington, IL and did just tree
damage. It then moved northeast and damaged several metal
buildings. As it moved northeast across Normal, IL, it did
significant tree damage, especially between Main Street and North
Linden Street. It continued to do tree damage as it moved
northeast. As it left town, it flipped over a semi on I-55. It
then entered Towanda, doing minor damage and ended just northeast
of town.
