...NWS Damage Survey for 1/9/26 Tornado Event - Update # 1...

.Update...Added Walthall/Marion Co EF1 tornado.

.Overview...Two weak tornadoes have been confirmed from Friday
morning's storms in central and south Mississippi. An additional
damage survey is planned on Saturday to assess damage from a 
third tornado in northern Jones County.

Survey Summary:
Statistic above reflect the full tornado path through both the NWS
Slidell and NWS Jackson CWAs. An EF1 tornado touched down just
southwest of Fordsville Road east of Tylertown, MS. The worst
damage damage was seen just northeast of the touchdown point with
light damage to a roof and an area of tree damage with multiple
uprooted trees. Light tree damage was noted along the path until
it crossed into Marion County. Tree damage occurred near the
intersection of Welch Ln and Branton Bay Rd. The tornado tracked
northeast closely following Branton Bay Rd to US Highway 98, where
roof damage occurred at the Popwell's Family Restaurant. The
tornado lifted as it reached Old Highway 24.

the path. The remaining damage was mostly small/large limbs down
along Red Dog Road and the Natchez Trace. One large limb downed a
power line. Max winds were 85 mph (EF0) and total path length was
4.6 miles.

.Overview...Four weak tornadoes have been confirmed from Friday
morning and Saturday morning's storms in central and south 
Mississippi. An additional damage survey is planned on Sunday to 
assess potential damage in Jefferson Davis, Covington, and Lawrence 
counties.

buildings along Barberry Dr before lifting.

Survey Summary:
This tornado began near the intersection of US Highway 11 and MS
Highway 528, initially mainly producing damage to tree limbs as
it tracked across southeast Jasper County. Along CR 642, the roof
of a mobile home was damaged and trees were uprooted. The tornado
strengthened after crossing into Clarke County, producing a
concentrated path of snapped trees as it crossed CR 250 west of
the Goodwater community. Additional tree limb damage occurred
along CR 280 before the tornado lifted near the Nancy community.

Survey Summary:
An EF-1 tornado touched down in the Carson community in Jefferson
Davis County. The tornado started just south of Carson on King
Lane and tracked northeast crossing Highway 42 on the east side
of Carson. There was significant tree and vegetation damage along
Old Highway 42 and Alex Daley Road. Numerous trees were uprooted
and snapped along Alex Daley Road. A chicken farm was hit just
off of Alex Daley Road and sustained substantial damage. Most of
the homes in this area had very little structural damage. The
tornado continued northeast crossing Haw Pond Road and Highway
35 causing more tree damage. The tornado then continued to Santee
Baptist Church Road where it damaged another chicken farm and
continued to cause more tree damage. The tornado ended just
beyond Santee Baptist Church Road in a wooded area.

Survey Summary:
This tornado began near the intersection of US Highway 11 and MS
Highway 528, initially mainly producing damage to tree limbs as
it tracked across southeast Jasper County. Along CR 642, the roof
of a mobile home was damaged and trees were uprooted. The tornado
strengthened after crossing into Clarke County, producing a
concentrated path of snapped trees as it crossed CR 250 west of
the Goodwater community. Additional tree limb damage occurred
along CR 280 before the tornado lifted near the Nancy community.
