End Lat/Lon: 40.3356 / -96.0257

Survey Summary:
A tornado developed in open fields near the intersection of
625 Avenue and 725 Road, and moved quickly east. The tornado
damaged many trees, flipped pivots, and destroyed at least two
large farm sheds. The damage along the track was somewhat
sporadic at times, and this concentrated area of tornado damage
was embedded within a much broader area of 60 to 80 mph winds in
the downdraft regions of the parent thunderstorm. The peak width
of the tornado was determined where it traveled through a long
line of trees and gave evidence to the most intense focused zone
of winds being approximately 200 yards wide.

..Tornado West of Auburn Along Highway 136...

End Location: 1 WNW Auburn / Nemaha County / NE
End Lat/Lon: 40.3927 / -95.869

Survey Summary:
A tornado developed just south of Highway 136 and west of
636 Avenue, and moved east northeast to the area near Highway
136 and just east of 637 Avenue. This tornado caused sporadic
tree damage and uprooting, and impacted two farms. At one farm, a
large trailer was rolled approximately 50 yards and debris
distributed downstream across a field. Several trees were snapped
or uprooted and landed on a home. Another farm had a large shed
destroyed with the debris field extending more than a half mile
downstream. This tornado was embedded in a broad area of straight
line downburst winds estimated at up to 95 mph, especially near
and just south of the tornado track.

..Tornado North of Auburn Near Highway 75...

Rating: EF0
Estimated Peak Wind: 80 mph
Path Length /statute/: 0.60 miles
Path Width /maximum/: 20 yards
Fatalities: 0
Injuries: 0

Start Date: 05/18/2026
Start Time: 04:27 PM CDT

End Date: 05/18/2026
End Time: 04:30 PM CDT
End Location: 4 SSE Julian / Nemaha County / NE
End Lat/Lon: 40.4673 / -95.8448

Survey Summary:
Video from broadcast media showed a small, rain-wrapped tornado
moving generally eastward just south of Road 733A and Highway 75.
Damage consisted of a small cluster of large downed tree
branches, with estimated maximum winds of 80 mph.

..Intense Downburst Over Auburn...
Peak Wind: 95 mph
Length: At Least 8 Miles
Width: At least 4 miles

Survey Summary:
The downdraft region of an intense supercell thunderstorm produced
a swath of widespread 70 to 95 mph winds. The wind damage was
particularly noteworthy and extensive in the town of Auburn where
very large branches or trees were snapped or uprooted in almost
every block of the town. Many of these trees were silver maples,
but even some stronger oaks sustained significant damage.
Structural damage was limited, but there was one old brick
building in the downtown area that suffered a roof failure that
then allowed the walls to collapse. This area of downdraft winds
was several miles wide and several miles long, and there was also
evidence that some 60-80 mph winds extended all the way back
toward Elk Creek and Tecumseh.

&&

EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the
following categories:

EF0.....65 to 85 mph
EF1.....86 to 110 mph
EF2.....111 to 135 mph
EF3.....136 to 165 mph
EF4.....166 to 200 mph
EF5.....>200 mph

NOTE:
The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to
change pending final review of the events and publication in

..Intense Downburst Over Auburn...
