...NWS Damage Surveys for July 28th and August 17th Tornado Events...

Storm surveys for tornadoes in northern Iowa have been completed
utilizing photographic evidence and high resolution satellite imagery. 

Two additional tornadoes have been confirmed, one to the southwest of Crystal 
Lake in Hancock County, with a second to the west of Forest City in 
Winnebago County. Both tornadoes occurred entirely over agricultural land.

Survey Summary:
High resolution satellite imagery revealed a clear, narrow tornado track
in agricultural fields beginning just east of the Lake George Wildlife 
Management area in Hancock County. The tornado traveled eastward for
approximately one and a quarter miles crossing Hill Ave and dissipating 
just west of Iowa Ave. The rating for the tornado is EF-U for unknown 
wind speed due to the lack of official damage indicators in the tornadic path.

Survey Summary:
Photographic evidence and high resolution satellite imagery revealed 
a clear landspout type tornado track in agricultural fields beginning just
east of 100th Ave, between 330th and 350th Avenues.  The tornado tracked 
northward for a short distance, before crossing 100th Ave, and then traveled 
northwest through another ag field.  The tornado dissipated very near 
a farmstead just south of 350th Ave. The rating for the tornado is also
EF-U for unknown wind speed due to the lack of official damage indicators
in the tornadic path.
