The first signs of tornado damage were documented at a farm
roughly six miles southeast of Mobridge along SD Highway 1804,
where a grain silo sustained minor damage. About half a mile to
the northwest along the same highway, a semi-trailer was tipped
over, with a second semi-trailer overturned another mile beyond
that. Continuing northwest on SD Highway 1804, the tornado
destroyed an entire outbuilding on a farm located about one mile
south of US Highway 12. The roof was ripped from the building and
its eastern walls collapsed.

The tornado then tracked northwest and approached US Highway 12.
It was at this point that storm chasers documented the tornado,
although heavy precipitation often obscured their view. Along this
highway, one power pole was bent and a camper being pulled by a
vehicle was overturned. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

After crossing US Highway 12, the tornado tracked just west of
290th Avenue, taking down a series of six power poles that were
either completely broken or severely bent. This was likely the
widest point of the tornado. No other damage was noted beyond this
location, however information remains preliminary as more photos
and satellite imagery are analyzed in the coming days.
