Survey Summary:
NWS Damage Survey team confirmed a tornado developed around
11:56 AM CDT just north of Wisconsin Avenue in Appleton with the
roof partially torn off several businesses in the area.  The
tornado tracked south, intensifying rapidly as it tracked into
Winnebago County. The tornado snapped and uprooted numerous
trees and produced damage to several area homes and businesses
along its path.  The most significant damage occurred in the Fox
Crossing and Menasha areas, where several businesses were heavily
damaged near Highway 10 and a house destroyed in Menasha. The
heavily damaged areas are consistent with EF-3 tornado damage
with estimated winds near 140 mph.The tornado then continued
south over Lake Winnebago, where it dissipated around 12:22 pm
CDT.

following categories:

EF0.....65 to 85 mph
EF1.....86 to 110 mph
EF2.....111 to 135 mph
EF3.....136 to 165 mph
EF4.....166 to 200 mph
