Rating: EF2 Estimated Peak Wind: 120 mph Path Length /statute/: 3.73 miles Path Width /maximum/: 440 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 02/19/2026 Start Time: 06:57 PM EST Start Location: 6 S Ellettsville / Monroe County / IN Start Lat/Lon: 39.1428 / -86.639 End Date: 02/19/2026 End Time: 07:06 PM EST End Location: 3 WSW Bloomington / Monroe County / IN End Lat/Lon: 39.1629 / -86.5745 Survey Summary: The tornado first developed around 6:56PM EST in wooded areas west of the Monroe County Airport before rapidly intensifying as it moved into a small neighborhood just west of the airport. This area experienced extensive tree damage along with multiple points of structural damage to homes, with the most intense damage estimated at 120 mph.As the tornado progressed eastward, it caused damage to an airplane hangar at the airport. While passing over the airfield, the KBMG ASOS recorded a wind gust of 70 mph. The tornado then continued east of the airport, damaging numerous homes before striking a newly constructed neighborhood, where additional high-end EF1 to low-end EF2 damage was observed. Additional EF1 damage was observed to the northeast at an apartment complex. The tornado dissipated around 7:06PM EST near the business district west of I-69, after producing damage to a bank overhang and causing roofing damage to several warehouse structures. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$
